  1. If she shows signs of stress I would suggest removing one of them - maybe if you took the male he might settle down
  2. Can anyone tell me what sort of snail this is please?
  3. Lots of plants will help too. Is she the only female for him? If so, get 2 or 3 more at least to spread his interest or she will die from continual harrassment.
  4. You have obviously done a lot of work on your page. Well done. May I point out the fish you talk about are harlequins, not harequins ?

    Hi Everyone

Hi to you both. I hope you don't have problems with all those fish! That is too many I think, particularly for new tanks, but I am not too sure about how much gallons are. Welcome to the fishroom anyway.
  6. Great looking tank. Much improvement since rearrangement
  7. It's good exercise for them too
  8. They are prone to white spot and do better with a touch of salt in the water. I suggest you wait until you are a little more experienced and your tanks matured then see if you want to give them a try. Have you thought of joining a fish club in your area? We have one in Kapi-Mana (meet in Tawa) and Upper Hutt. There is also a non FNZAS affiliated club that meet in Ngaio. Good luck with the fish.
  9. Indian fern is Ceratopteris pteroides and also known as water sprite (which confuses it with C. thalictroides) and water wisteria, Hygrophila difformis. There is a poor pic of it here; http://www.wetwebmedia.com/PlantedTksSu ... pteris.htm If you have a dense clump of Java moss it will sink but thinned out, it floats. The India fern has long floating roots for the fry to hide in.
  10. Hi critter_guy. I hope you find this site very helpful. Quite a few of us meet regularly each evening in the chat room around 9pm, perhaps we'll see you there sometime.

    Bubbles

It is a good thing
  12. Well done phillz!!! Once your club is up and running, the next step is to affiliate to the FNZAS .
  13. I think you can buy longer hoses, or extensions. The shorter the hoses the better though.
  14. Only if she is a member of the FNZAS Kim.
  15. Nice to see clean tanks . Good plant growth in the top pic too. Thanks for showing us.
  16. They only x-ray international luggage, not national
  17. Are you sure he has had others or perhaps that was the first? There will soon be more, don't worry.
  18. Hi Rona (excuse me while I hijack this thread a minute spooky). I see you are from Blenheim. Our next meeting is Tuesday 16th, 7.30pm, 8 Purkiss St. You would be most welcome to come along. We will be looking at Murray's 6ft Malawi tank and having a visit from the FNZAS president. Spooky - any chance of running an extension cord from the neighbours?
  19. I certainly have - axolotls too (except I had them in an ice cream container)
  20. I thought goldfish laid eggs on the underside of floating leaves. Do they scatter them on pots as well? Just curious
  21. No problem carrying them in their plastic bag inside a small hot/cold type carrier bag as hand luggage.

    REALLY WEIRD

Umm, it's a big black dot. Looks like colouration to me, nothing wrong.
