Cool pics Lee! Those small fry are hard to focus on

Danio swimming on its side?
Hard to tell. May be injury or some sort of internal damage. Changed food recently? May be a temporary intestine blockage or swim bladder problem.

You having to give up the cafe?

Suggestions please!
You can have all males so get more male guppies and platies (although platies are good at changing sex when required). Most small community fish will go with what you have. Harlequins or other rasboras, cherry barbs, pencilfish, rummy noses, cardinals, glowlights, lemon, yellow, phantom, emperor, black widow or bleeding heart tetras, pristellas, danios, etc. Not tiger barbs though as they tend to nip tails. Rosy barbs should be ok though. Lots of others but what we can get here isn't necessarily what you can get there.

do u guys had any idea???
Andre you need an importing licence and it will be an expensive proposition. You might try approaching an importer and asking them if they will bring them through quarantine for you but I think you will need to start again here - especially if any of your fish are on our banned list.

Keeping clean
If there are any bits you particularly need to siphon out then use the hose without the siphon tube on the end. It will fit easily around the plant bases without damage.

BLUE/GREEN ALGAE
Like Ira my one dose worked after nothing else did. My cyano was introduced with some plants and once once treated has not come back (so far, several months later).

Goldfish attacked.. which fish could be the culprit??
I agree with the rest - the shark is the culprit. I also think the goldfish should be in a separate tank and not mixed with the tropicals.

guss whos back
Good to see you BG. Does this mean I can email the club newsletters again? By the way, are you re-joining the club as your subs are due

Brown Shells
OK. My tank went brown also due to algae then I got lots of green and red algae. No plants to provide competition. I also don't do as many water changes as I should so phosphates and stuff is probably sky high which the algae love.

Golden Guppy Fry
Congratulations. Time will tell re colours since you don't know the parentage.

Kribensis Query
It isn't something I have come across. My disease book mentions black pigments as you describe being a form of cancer but the pic of it shows a very black section.

Now Safe & will know exact power costs
I should think harnessing all the hot air and wind from the saltwater sections here ought to keep a few tanks going too

Brown Shells
Why do you have shells in a freshwater tropical tank? Have you checked the pH? Shell will increase the alkalinity.
-
Puffer fish
I would definitely not put a puffer in a commnuity tank!

algae
I can get Erythromycin cos I work for a GP and a friend is a doctor in the local hospital

Male Clown Pleco (L104)
Lookin good. Not seen one before.

help where can i get neosulfex?
Neosulf is neomycin sulphate used for infections and infestations. Try asking a friendly GP, vet, or chemist, as you would only need a very small amount. My Dr gets me Erythromycin when I need it (mind you, he only does it so he can tell the hospital his receptionist has algae  ) If you need it for an external infection, ask female friends and relatives if they have any Pimafucort cream Not sure what it would do for the fish though as it also has hydrocortisone and natamycin in it.

HELP PLEASE! What could it be?
Are they under water or just bopping about on the surface? Surface critters are nothing to worry about. If mozzies, modern angl has had experience with them

Comments on my Tanks
Looking good bluetom but I would be moving that plant that is in the front middle as it will grow too big and block the view of the rest of the tank. A free swimming space in front gives more depth to a tank.

Southlanders Speak Up!!
Don't wait for replies to your "is anyone interested?" either, just set up a meeting and advertise it and see who turns up.

Buying a filter
I would say to avoid the Eheim wet/dry filters but understand the others are good but I have not personally used them so can't comment. I have 2 Fluval 404's. Both go OK but water flow drops dramatically and quickly once on a tank! They are both (old and new models) difficult to pull apart to clean. The new one (now 3 or 4 years old I think at least) has recently broken both the impellor and the plastic bit the hose attaches to so had to buy replacement parts. Had difficulty getting an impellor for it as no-one had them. Recently purchased 2 Jebos and they are going brilliantly with much greater flow than the Fluvals. Have only had them since early in the year so can't comment on reliability over time yet but so far I am pleased with them.

Going Away ... Lights Off OK?
Small plastic bags, pill bottles (pills removed and container washed of course) or empty film canisters make good food containers for daily doses

How many fish is too many for a 285L tank?
Using media etc from an established tank, plus adding the fish over that time rather than all at once (as I thought you meant), makes a big difference so you probably won't get a spike at all. You can easily wait a year or 2 for the other tank as plecs don't grow that quickly and clowns grow even more slowly. You're doing well!
