    Babies

are they boys or girls? 8)
  3. You could also use one of the various weed mats or shade cloths, not too small holes though as you want the water to circulate. Some craft shops also have sheets of plastic mesh used in tapestry sometimes.
  4. Every post has the button at the bottom of it that says PM. Click on the one at the bottom of one of pies' posts, type your message and submit it.
  5. There are different sorts but someone who keeps marines would be better able to answer you more fully as to what the differences are. Compare it to tropical freshwater - there are different sorts of these too, like species tanks where you keep one sort of fish only, African set-ups (split into further groups like Lake Malawi cichlids, Lake Tanganyikan cichlids etc), tetra only set-ups, livebearer only set-ups, fast flowing river themes, southeast Asian river tank, Amazon rainforest stream etc etc etc
  6. I suspect guppies start playing mummies and daddies while still in the womb Baby guppies can eat finely crushed flake.

    Condolences

My thoughts are with all of those who knew the lady.
  8. Very informative shiuh. Would you like to turn that information into a small article for me? Or may I use your information myself and create one?
  9. I am sure the good news will soon make her forget about the bad news Do I hear another limerick coming on? What rhymes with 'divorce'?

    Eheim filters

We have an Eheim wet/dry filter and wouldn't touch another with a 10ft barge pole. It ran well for 6 months then stopped. Since it previously sat in a friend's wardrobe for several years, claiming warranty was not an option. Have tried ever since to fix it but no luck. No answers from Eheim either. Have found plenty of others around the world with the same problem and they haven't been able to fix theirs either. It still works as an ordinary canister filter but the wet/dry feature doesn't work. I recommend you avoid them. I gather many people make their own wet/dry systems which work very well.
  12. You have mistaken helpfulness for criticism FindingNemo.
  13. From which part of the bristlenose was it coming from?
  14. Goldfish are on the banned list and I think it has been longer than 1993 that we have not been able to import them. This explains the poor quality of goldfish here.
  15. TC bought a discus from Wet Pets in Palmerston North and brought it home with her in the car and on the ferry then overnighted in Blenheim and continued home to Rangiora the next day and the fish was fine. It had been bagged correctly and well. We regularly buy fish when we are in ChCh and it can be 7 or 8 hours before they get into a tank back here by the time we have finished shopping
  16. Then just send the rolls and they will accept your apology
  17. Most killi breeders keep the species in separate tanks too.
  18. I also did an article on them which can be found in the Feb 2004 Aquarium World magazine for those lucky enough to have a copy.
  19. Wow, a tank with curtains - how posh  What size is it?

    Newbie in welly....

Hi Tek and welcome. I am sure Alan can answer all your killi questions
  21. The lounge tank I fill with a python but the computer tank is too far from taps so I run the garden hose through the window and fill it with cold. I have never worried about equalising temps. Think about fish in a pond. They bask on the surface in summer but if startled they dive down to the deeper parts. There is often quite a difference between the surface temp and that of the bottom depths.
  22. I used to have fire bellies too and a man in Timaru bred them for years!
