Some fish don't start attacking others until they reach a certain age

Fish murderer!!! :lol: Yes it is possible they walloped their heads on the lid or crashed into the glass. Some species are more prone to doing this than others. It was more likely the flash than the noise. How noisy can you be just taking a photo? :-?

Are you sure it is fin rot and not damage done by other fish? I have never used Furan so can't comment.

Unless your new heater is set at too high a temperature, there is no point in turning it off. It will only turn on to heat the water up when required. If the tank temperaure is erally high and constant, try freezing some 2 or 3L bottles of water and floating them in the tank. Slikka pads work well too. Cloudy eyes is often a sign of parasitic or bacterial infections. Not sure if the flourish has done it though as I don't know enough about the stuff. If a fish has whitespot it looks like it has been sprinkled with salt. If the fins are edged in white and getting shorter it is a bacterial infection called fin rot. All the symptoms could just be a sign of stress in the hot weather.

I do have a large pump running a filter and waterfall. Water movement helps keep downthe algae as it can't stagnate. They are not a requirement though, depends on the size of the pond, location (ie how much sun etc) and number of plants

Not sure what age they stop that but it can be a sign of them having been weaned too early I believe. She should grow out of it.

I gave away the fish I bred last time. Not sure what is happening with them this year as we have had such weird weather! 33C one day then 16C then next, dropping to 8C at night. Not out usual February weather pattern. I thought all the adult fish had died actually as I could not see them but this morning actually spotted 5 golden barbs still swimming about. No idea about the odessas as they are very hard to see.

It was before they headed of to the Blues Brews and BBQs beer festival so I don't know how much he had consumed (the other guy that is, not my son. He actually came home from the festival seemingly still sober). We have dried it out and it now works! Has a couple of blobs in the corners from extra water but otherwise still usable.

Yeah ring your council and they can tell you. Our water has high phosphate levels.

... think it is funny to push unsuspecting people into swimming pools? My son has been here for the weekend and was at a BBQ when someone ran through pushing in several of those near the pool. You can thaw it if you want. Just drop it in a small container and wait. It won't take long. You know when it is thawed as it will look like an odd coloured puddle. Fish love mozzie larvae. My goldfish in the pond seem to ignore them though. They also ignore all the other critters zipping about, including water boatmen, backswimmers and dragonfly larvae. I think they are too well fed on flakes and pellets :lol:

What size are the tanks and fish? Small tanks (2ft or less) can be emptied to an inch or two of water above the substrate and the gravel and plants left in. Small fish may also be left in. Bigger fish require bags or other containers. I have 30L barrels with water tight lids. I can empty the tank water into the barrels (it is good to save as much original water as possible) then drop the fish in too. Two hours isn't too long. Get polystyrene boxes to transport them to keep them warm (or cold). You will have the heater going in the vehicle to the temperature shouldn't be a major problem. A plastic fizz bottle filled with hot water then wrapped in a towel will work as a heat pack if you think it necessary. If you end up bagging the fish, do not put too many per bag. Neon sized you can put 4 - 6 per bag. Platy size I would have 2 - 4 per bag. Gourami size I would put 1 or 2 per bag and anything bigger should be solo. Make sure you have 1/4 water to 3/4 air in the bags. If you have several bags in a box, pack scrunched up newspaper or towels between them and make sure they saty upright. You do not want them to fall over in transit as some fish might end up squashed in a corner. Larger tanks need to be totally emptied so you do not stress the glass as you lift and carry them. Putting them onto a board is a good idea as that keeps them even. If you are able to set up some tanks in the new place ahead of time it will be so much easier. Keep the filter media wet at all times and they should be fine.
