also work out why the fish are getting sick then put meds in test your water...your temp.... and if you put tonic salt in your tank check that you havent put to much of that in. i would say Melafix over tonic. i use melafix in the shop when i get a shipment in and i never have problems when i use it . just dont use it all the time only when you need to mind you thats the same with any meds

malkon is good stuff!!!!! i myself would have use white spot cure but melcon will do the job fine work out why you got white spot so it doesnt come back! eg temp is best at 26 and up - most books say lower but the worlds temp has changed since the books have been written. do you do over 30% water changes? is it by a window or door so the temp of the tank drops alot? adding new fish? white spot is from stress or temp being to low so if you can work it out you wont have to keep doseing

yes i have had large gold spots in and they have been 45 cm long, gold spots are a cheep pleco and cost under $20 i sell all my big plecos at $20 because most people get rid of them because they are so big. gold nuggets dont grow big they only get to 7inch

if you have lots of plants in the tank you are best to keep her in the tank... less stress on her and if a few babies get eaten she will have babies again in about 30 days if the water is right enjoy seeing live babies is so cool

you dont get a regular gravel all gravels have different ph.... you find the more colourful eg fruit salad, or orange gravels are high in ph...... dark gray gravel is low in ph.

you can now get an earthworm flake food , its cheep under $8 its mixed with Tubifex and blood worms as well.

i also dont put all my eggs in one tank , that way if you lose a tank full .... and that can happen.... you still have some babies . a touch of meds in the water helps and as alan said cutting the light out does help.

look at the rocks , gravel or anything else you have in your tank that is keeping your ph up, as luke says dont change the new water change the tank.... to much mucking around with your tank will kill your fish more

your lucky only a few have come out like that , i have been holding most of them back that have that but a few have got out. talked to a friend thats breeding them and she has a few do that so we might breed them together and see what we get , most have had one or two black spots on the tail , or fins or head so they would look different with more

it also depends on the filter you are running and how many water changes you are doing as to the number of fish you can have
