Heya people.
We are doing some reno's on our house and we lifted some carpet to expose the wooden rimu floor boards beneath. However, the annoying carpet underlay does not want to come up and alot is stuck on the wood still.
Any ideas on how to get rid of it without damaging or staining the wood would be appreicated.
Thanks for the offer. The pH might be a tad to high for it. I was hoping only to lower the tank down to 8. I might have to save up and get a couple of cockatoo syno's.
I will have to get that pass the partner first (might take a couple of months unless I can find some babies).
Yourself and bronze are welcome at any stage to cuddle Ymir. I might have to scab a ride off you one day (happy to help pay for gas) to come and do a Sunday Manawatu fish club visit, (especially, the tank crawl if there is one coming up again).
dwarf puffers with cichlids?
Snails are starting to become a problem in my tank (and since we aren't allowed assassin snails in the country) and I don't want to go adding chemicals to the tank unless I really have too. I would rather drop my pH a little and add these guys. I know that they are aggressive fin nippers but I figure African cichlids aren't wusses either. Has anyone tried this before??
Tired of snails!!!!
Does any one know in the wellington region a person who would build a tank base/stand? I would like it built out of macrocarpa railway sleepers. But i want the sleepers routered out so that the tank sits inside the sleepers a bit and hopefully also beable to be pulled apart for easier transport.
a thick slab of wood? (hopefully mac). Needs to be about at least 2 inches thick and approximately 6 foot long and somewhere near wellington.
My partner hates the traditional fish tank bases and we have come up with a comprise but I need to find this hunk of wood first.
I am pretty sure I have 3 males and I would like to get a hold of a female. I know this should be in the private trade and exchange section but more people who might have this pleco would look in this forum.
I would like the pretty babies to go with my adults.
Happy to get smaller or baby ones as well. :bounce:
Nope I leave the rocks. The 3 hour one is where I check alot of the weekly stuff and look over the plants as well. I will do a major clean every 4-6 months including the rocks. But otherwise live with it. I just test water every now and then to make sure the nasty toxins are not building up too much. I have been reading some good articles lately about finding a balance in the tank and letting natural processes do some of the work.
Ok. I have:
Pseudotropheus demasoni
Julidochromis marlieri
Altolamprologus calvus (Yellow)
Aulonocara baenschi
Panaque sp, L204
Blacks whiptails

It takes me about 3 hours to do a 50% water change and about 2 hours to do a 25% water change. Once the plants rooted into the substrate, you can get a little vigorous with them .
