    What is...

a low growing plant (5-cm or smaller) that can survive a approximate Ph 8. I have a African tank full of babes and they poo like crazy. I am tired of my white calcite substrate looking messy. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. :bounce:
  3. Depends on what type of Africans you have .
  4. They never returned my questions when I got more specific about them, so I let it slide. I have some beautiful fish in my tank (thanks Ryan ) that are what they are suppose to be. I don't want to start adding fish that aren't. I also would like to be able to breed in the future and would like to say with 100% certainty that they are the species stated. I don't want to compound the problem further for others and breed hybrids.
  5. Pseudotropheus demasoni and Metriaclima pulpican. The second species was formerly Pseudotropheus sp. "Kingsizei". If fish behave the same as plants. There is a high possibility of interbreeding. However, I wanted to check before I passed up the chance of obtaining some of these guys and gals.
  6. Thanks and looks like I need furan to fix the problem.
  7. Technically this is not a plant question but algae are a type of plant . I have a calcite sand substrate and lately a blue(about this colour) algae has started appearing on the sand. The Blue algae will grow up the glass from the sand but only a few millimeters then stops. When I clean the tank, the gravel breaks up easily and after a day or two the blue starts to appear again. Currently the algae is growing in two spots but I am worried that it will cover all the calcite in time. The algae does not seem to affect the fish GBA happily sit on it but do not eat it. Any ideas on what it is and how to get rid of it?
  8. I have a very small amount if you want some. won't be large but it could be a start for you.
  9. He gave it to me for free
  10. Might be this one. Microsorum pteropus 'Windeløv' looks about right.
  11. a Needle Leaf Java Fern? and not the one of Trade-me. Way, way, way too expensive! Any one have some they want to sell? I know this is not the trade and exchange but you are the plant people.
  12. Hi, I am going to try and grow anubais, java fern and bolbitis. My tanks size is 1500(length)x450(width)x500(depth). What light tubes should I get? Getting a aqua one 48" double light thingy lol. I need help on what wavelength and the strength required to grow this plants. I really have no idea. Cheers
