  1. Here is a good site. Even has a betta as the constipated fish Dose is in there: 1 tbsp per litre, 15-20 min, bath can be repeated twice daily.
  2. Maybe try a Epsom salt bath? This might help the possible constipation. Also, hold up a light behind him if u can so that it shines through his body. Can you see a water filled space around his organs? My betta had this happen a few months back for some reason...had a water filled abdomen. I treated it with a regular salt bath a few times during the week and it seemed to clear up. Otherwise, I think what you are doing is correct. All the best!
  3. I second the soaking...especially for fry.
  4. I didn't even keep cats nor did the tenants before me...but they were really dirty people. The carpets and rugs were absolutely infested and even though we cleaned when we moved in they were still biting my ankles over the first couple of months. I had red itchy bumps all over my feet and lower legs. I almost moved out but we decided to do a flea bomb as a last ditch effort. It worked a charm and was a one-off fix that didn't need to be repeated again while we lived there over the next 3 years. So i would recommend it...then in the future just treat with frontline and stuff and you'll be good as gold.
  5. You can come see my tanks...lol! Although they are not that big or impressive
  6. Have a dig around in a garden...like when you are weeding.
  7. I agree with the flee bomb! I've used them before in the old place, they work a charm. Definitely cover the fish tanks entirely. Also remove any plants from the rooms and put the can on a sheet of newspaper. I think most of the instructions are on the back of the can.
  8. Fin Rot usually has a distinct white border (fungus) which is eating away at the fins. I usually have success with a combo or Wunder Tonic and Acriflavine, which is cheaper and works quickly. Sometimes the Fungus is a secondary infection and the fish needs to be treated for a bacterial infection using Furan. You can tell that its working if the fungus is gone, and the fin/tail appears to be healing (usually starts off with clear growth). The fish should be happy to feed and otherwise acting normally. Goodluck!
  9. Look into both undergrad and postgrad options. I don't know what your background is currently, but it would really help open some doors for you and you could see what is out there. If you are into herps and conservation, there was a lot of cool research going on with lizards and frogs at Vic uni. I did my undergrad in marine and freshwater bio, and masters in marine, now i'm working for DoC.

    worms?

I hope someone answers your question better because I've been battling the same problem with my rams. Prazi is for gill flukes and some intestinal worms (better to get the liquid stuff because it mixes with water). You will see fish scraping on rocks a lot. Metro is for Heximita (incl. the intestinal one) plus some other parasites. You will see white stringy poo. Neither worked for me and if i don't feed 3 times daily they have sunken bellies. You can try soaking or injecting their food with the drugs. I'm going to try furan next as it may be some sort of bacterial thing they have... I would recommend you try these 2 and then furan as well. Goodluck.
  12. They also eat black hair algae. Voracious appetites... SAEs are often sold as flying foxes. When buying them make sure that the black line is serrated a bit and goes right into the tail (not stopping before). Also make sure that their fins are clear and that there is NO light white line above the black line.
  13. I think your tank will be fine. I'd also recommend at least 6...but when they are really comfortable, the won't always stick together. I have some and I love them! I like watching them eat Be careful when bringing them home in the bag and putting them into the tank. Their whiskers will easily break, but if they do don't worry, they grow back.
  14. Get a siamese algae eater or 2, it'll be the best purchase you ever make They won't eat the little green circles on the glass tough, but all the stuff will disappear
  15. So sorry to here of your loss. Bud was a lucky bird to have such caring people as you.

    Help!?!

How many fish in total do you have and in what sized tank?
  17. Lol, I don't think he'd go for it If it was me, I would consider some games
  18. Yup, writers for NZGamer get to keep the games they review, which are sent by the industry. I'm not a regular, I only reviewed 2 because I wanted to give it a go. Plus, my boyfriend is the creator of the site. He gets consoles for free too but usually only 1 of each. Its a sweet perk though
  19. I've used it heaps. I get all the games for free so why not I like Wii Active more though...find I get a better work out and you don't have to use the board. It also comes with a stretch band I actually wrote a review for it on NZGamer if you wanna quick look: http://www.nzgamer.com/wii/reviews/898/ ... ctive.html If you'd like to read more about Wii Fit then that review is here: http://www.nzgamer.com/wii/reviews/699/wii-fit.html Did your doctor recommend it for physio therapy? I don't have experience with that so I wouldn't know if its good in that way but otherwise, they are both good if you want a work out at home.
