They so do! It's a pity only 6/9 of them were swimming past at that moment
  2. I was told that on this forum but read it nowhere else. With my dry start experience, I can safely say that it doesn't cause Glosso to grow vertically nor should there be any reason (unless insufficient light which will make it grow vertically even when the tank is full) for it to.
  3. Well the artist is from Ukraine so I doubt English is his strong point. I like the typo, it gives it extra character  This is the only tank I've seen where the Mariamo algae has been used well 8)
  4. Why not do a dry start? You only add enough water to keep the roots moist and the rest of the plant is largely out of the water. The plant will grow far more quickly and cover the area faster. The only downside it that the old growth dies off when you fill the tank but the new leaves will have plenty of roots to grow from. In answer to your question, it's not common to dose "ferts" during a dry start but that doesn't mean to say it couldn't or shouldn't be done. The dosage is based on litres in your aquarium for a reason, the fertilizers are largely diluted by your aquarium water but the plants absorb what they need to, removing it from the water. One could argue that in tanks with equal plant mass, say 100x50cm of glosso will use the same amount of ferts whether the tank is 25, 50 or 100L as the plant mass is still the same. At the end of the day, it's up to you. Personally I wouldn't bother though, my glosso grew well just under lights and without CO2 you're just asking for algae issues. What ferts are you planning on dosing by the way?
  5. Yeah I posted that in the What's Up? thread about half an hour ago  This is my fav so far http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.org/2012/show309.html

Sell the big fish, keep the big tanks. Small fish love big tanks and it really helps with the scale. Also, photos!
  10. Someone GIF this man something to eat so he stops posting these ridiculous images!

    bubbles

I'm talking hours old, are your plants only hours old? Only ever lower CO2 when the fish show signs of stress.

    bubbles

If the plants are new, it's common. Also, if you have sufficient CO2 and lighting to cause the plants to give off visible oxygen bubbles or "pearl" as it's also know.
  13. So today I found my old water change tube and decided to give siphoning out leaves, algae, dirt, etc from the tank. It turns out this algae is REALLY easily sucked into the tube so I removed a whole heap of it in just a couple of buckets. Sam 1, retarded algae 0.

Just about to get into my weekly (now one of my weekly  ) water changes and a bit of aquascaping. My favourite time of the week
  15. Yeah you pay tax in your fuel, better stop buying fuel Camtang
  16. Now we're talking! If reducing the height by 10cm will save you 100% then that's a bit of a no brainer really. Or you could increase the height by 40cm, fill it halfway and call it a riparium
  17. You need to decide whether or not that extra 50-100% is worth it really.
  18. "Damn I wish my monster tank was smaller!" -Nobody Ever. Aside from price, what's the disadvantage of going bigger? This is a huge, permanent feature in your home afterall, you want to do it once and do it right.

Yeah that's the idea. The scape is really dull at the moment, it's awesome when the stems have some height but right now it's nothing
