I like the colours in the first fish, they're nice.
-
I closed all the blinds and turned off all the lights except the ones in the tank.
-
It depends, can you send me said shiny black background?
The water was actually far clearer before I did the water change and added carbon. And even though I have the HOB running at full speed, there's still alot of muck on the surface. Mainly algae but some other stuff too. :-?
-
Not much has changed. Nitrites are way down, added some activiated carbon (no, you haven't won yet Phoenix!) and took some photos of the tank on different angles with a low ISO. Ordered some plants and airline on Friday, hoping for a Monday or Tuesday delivery. Need to finish of the coke so I can use the bottle too.
Any constructive critsism?

I'm pretty sure it covers de-sexing, vacinations, etc. My cat was only $70 and she was a female, should be heaps less for a male.

Someone's showing off
I think your cambodian girl could be a PK,How can you tell if a female is PK or not?
-
Or you could wait till easter and get a rabbit?
I've found that the SPCA website isn't very good, they don't update too often. Go in for a look, I mean, what's the harm in looking?
-
D(ouble)T(ail) or Delta P44?
First one looks like she has some light, very light, crowning. Maybe combtail?
Second looks like a copper green/grey.
I like the second one.

Looking good, can't wait for it to de-cloudify.
That hairgrass will take a while like that, split it up into bunches of 3 or 4 blades and space them out, it'll take off much faster and better.

Try Phillip (New Zealand Discus Man). He specializes in Dwarf Cichlids
-
What about some Val? That can grow quite tall, can't it?
-
In what sized tank?
I have a couple of Butterfly Rams in a 2foot 54L tank and they're quite territorial, always squabbling with ea other.
I'd have one pair in each tank, only one though.
-
The two are now in the net breeder, used an old pair of stockings to replace the net. Still alive, I think. Too small to eat microworms though. :-?
Zev, did you have any egg layers in the tank you got the Riccia for me from?
-
I think my current mix, which has been going for ages and still going strong, is 2 cups of castor sugar, a teaspoon of yeast and the rest filled with warm water in a 1.25L homebrand soda bottle. Just drilled a hole in the cap, put the airline in the hole and glued it up tight. Running the line straight onto the outlet pipe of my internal filter.
Works well, heaps of O2 bubbles when lights are on.

Isn't my 5cm layer of gravel in a 30x90cm tank larger than the surface of a sponge in my Aquaclear50 HOB?
-
Two of them are little and hardly filter and one is a homemade sponge 'n' pump filter. So really only one filter, the Aquaclear 50 HOB.
I just don't like filters. They use up power, look ugly, take up room, require cleaning (which I never do anyways), make noise, cost money and create a current. Apart from CO2 diffusers and water clarifiers, they're near pointless.
-
That is one not so normal bird you got there P44.
Sounds kinda insane...
-
Aww! I'nt that something?
-
Cambodian is when the colour of the fishes body is lighter than that of it's fins, preferabley near albino with coloured fins.
Here's a pic of my late cambodian Betta:
And of my late cambodian female too:
-
I'll avoid filters at all costs. In saying that, I have them in all of my tanks except one.
-
Woah, misread that one completely
But aren't you against water filters too? I know I am.
-
don't use filters.
Strong words P44...
You don't need a filter if you have enough plants and good bacteria and/or you do regular water changes.
-
I went to Bunnings and got my tubes for $6-$7 each, S.O.G has Bio-lux and regular tubes from 2 -5 foot for around $12-$21, check their website.
Personally, I wouldn't put anything over the bulb because it blocks out light and is a potential fire hazard.

Never seen cheaper fish than at HFF

What sized tank is he in? They're supposed to grow to about 10cm and have quite a large tank.
