  1. Shall I send mine back so you can add them to the count?
  2. I'm sorry to hear this I reckon you need to start from scratch. Somethings gone down and if it were me, I'd redo the whole tank. Move all the occupants into another tank or big bucket with the heater and filter and drain the aqaurium. Wash the gravels, rocks, ornaments, etc really well and replace them again. Fill it back up and after it's stabalized, acclimitize the fish back in. This should help. Then again, it's just my opinion 8)
  3. Go Nature Aquarium style! Heaps of that long Eleocharis at the back (if we get it here) and the dwarf stuff at the front. Three central rocks and a white background. That's what I'd do.
  4. Adult BN's are very messy! I had a couple in a temp. tank and their poo was everywhere, yuck. Good for the plants though. Just ask for some Riccia, then you'll get a couple. Which reminds me, do you have anymore fish from that batch I could buy Zev?
  5. I'm going to wait until one I like pops up on the HFF fish specials.
  6. But hatchets jump p44  And yes those Vamps do look mighty awesome. We can't get those Discus tetras over here, not on the list Yeah, X-Rays look cool but the colours would drain against my light sand. Thanks for the suggestions and compliments Morcs.
  7. Which fish died? If the fish that died need alkaline pH (7.1+) then the low pH may be the cause. Ammonia is fine at that level, but keep an eye on it. If it starts to climb, do a water change. Using pH up is a temporary soloution, finding the cause is needed. The driftwood wouldn't have brought it down to below 6 unless there's a heap load in the tank. BTW- pH up can be substitudes for baking soda, they do the same thing. HTH and welcome
  8. Thanks LA, it has alot of maturing to do though Rummy noses?! Why? They're U.G.L.Y!
  9. My lights are a bit dim though. How much are they? I've never seen 'em before
  10. What's wrong with ember tetras? :-?
  11. I was going to suggest going rimless and suspending the lights but with a Betta planned, maybe not.
  12. EDIT: Now I need a name for the tank, any ideas??
  13. Okay, so I built the "light-hood today". Just abit of 60 x 30 cm MDF with a 5cm lip on the front and the bulb holders screwed in. 20cm lines run from the shelf to the lights so now there's only a 10cm gap between the water and bulbs. Moved the fish in today, all seem happy but I'm a bit worried that the Ottos will jump out when they're chasing each other around. Looking for the perfect, jump-proof, schooling fish to go in here. Something small in a school of 10+. Any ideas? Anyways, here's the last pics for a while, now I'm going to let the tank run wild.
  14. Ooo! That's gunna look mighty fine when it grows in. Whatcha gunna stock it with?
  15. Just send it to me Morcs, then I'll pass it on to P44 when I'm done. 8)
  16. Where is said rockwork? Get two Ottos! They chase ea other round, it's funny! Pics please! (Just PM them to me)

    OH DEAR!

Im so sorry for your loss
  18. There must be something, looked in your yellowpages?
  19. You call Animates your LFS? They're an LPS I think
  20. Zev- If it's long enough, you should be able to tie a rubber band around the part you want cut off. Then cut just below that and you should have nice little ponytail of hair(grass). Morcs- I think the one trim will be enough, it's already sending out runners, if anything, it should be more split up.
  21. Thanks for the feedback and compliments guys. I should have added- I threw all this together in a mad rush half hour. The lights need some work, namely a reflector and a bit lower, I'm going to let the plants go wild for a while then trim them right back, the Riccia is in a really bad form, might lower the tank down to half way just for P44 and my vision? Not a clue.
  22. I did it! Removed water as abovee, shifted tank and only needed to add 12L of tap water. Still waiting for it to settle, the fish can wait till tomorrow. Now all I need is an oversized external, lily pipes, a CO2 diffuser and a drop checker. Here's some pics, tell me what you think (P44, no looking until after your assignment!):
  23. That sand looks awesome! It'll be good to see this grown in a bit though. More prominent rockwork would be nice but it still looks excellent.
  24. How do you grow plants in there N1CK? That aeration must be huge.
