  1. I say leave them with the parents. It's rare to find good parents in the line bred fish of today. Keep the instinct strong.
  2. Going food shopping this evening, will try get one then. $1.29 is a bit steep though
  3. It depends. Do you want to keep this lot? If so, use the method that worked well last time. If not, let them fend for themselves. I personally prefer survival of the fittest as opposed to culling or more fry than you can handle.
  4. I love creme eggs too! Are you sure they were "Cadbury Creme Eggs"?

Good point. Perhaps we could get some FNZAS tshirts made? When I get a decent pic, I'll be doing some Betta ones for myself
  6. If you have a venturi fitting for the end of your canister filter (pretty common) then it should be easy. Somehow it draws air from above down into the water, looks just like it would if an air pump was used. Combine that with heaps of surface agitation and you'll be sweet
  7. Too bad there was only one If it got through then... Don't let N1CK see this thread! He'll start getting ideas!
  8. There is a small chance it could have got through on some moss or something, but them knowing it was an Amano shrimp seems strange. Perhaps next time you're there you could ask them what shrimp we can/have had imported? 8)
  9. I highly doubt it was an Amano shrimp, perhaps a stressed out native?

Tell me about it! I'm not good with people and I usually know what I want to buy, I just have to review my options. Worst part is when they ask my mother says "Yeah, he's just looking for a _____, can you help us?"
  11. Why cycle a breeding tank? Heavy feeding and water changes are usually the norm. Fish don't need lights to survive, lights are really just for aesthetics and plants. I have one of those 23w 6500k energy savers over my fighter fry tank, can see them just fine.
  12. One of these And one of these Can even grow plants under it, whole thing should cost you under $20. HTH
  13. No worries, glad to help. I have 50 baby BNs and every time I feed them the water seems to go cloudy, never planaria though :-?
  14. (http://www.fishdeals.com) If they looked like that then they could be Planaria. Caused by overfeeding, totally harmless.
  15. Like this?: Or more like this?: Images from http://www.nzfreshwater.org and http://www.fishpondinfo.com
  16. And foster Kakapo chicks and eat rats?
  17. I don't know about cichlids but Bettas over about a year old run the risk of having deformed fry. I think the older they are the more likely this is. HTH
  18. They eat algae and algae wafers. Must be VERY dangerous to our ecosystem. And to stop the outcry, I know the threat they may pose is disease, I'm just having a joke.
  19. Are you sure it wasn't a native? Too late! Nah, I gave up, not enough money and too complicated. Handed it off to N1CK but still nothing. Just the natives, best to do a cold water species tank, or maybe with some WCMM. RCS are nicer IMO, but no, none of the tropical shrimp species. It's a shame, but I guess it's all for our ecosystem and what not.
  20. Maybe it doesn't like you? My cat can't stand having her tummy touched, unless she's in a super good mood.
  21. I've seen a stall at Botany mall once, hasn't been there in a while though. Google is your friend 8)
  22. I understand where you're coming from but I believe P44 means be careful with NO tubes, they can blow the system. If the tubes you're getting are the right wattage and type, then by all means go for it, it "should" work. Correct me if I'm wrong Phoenix. EDIT: NO meaning Normal Output
  23. Damn right it is! Spent 2 hours this evening chopping and planting the stuff too, only got a 10x40cm part planted. Good news is only used about 1/10th of the Glosso, guess I'll be busy tomorrow, the tank's footprint is 90x40 with slopes
