    cory and others

I got guppies in with mine, but no affect on the corys  When they were in the big tank, they did seem to swim together with the otos occasionally though! Similar size, colourations and shoal behaviours But otos aren't exactly cheap fish!
  2. Yeap, I'm very wary of people in parked cars these days. I'm now testing riding a bit further away from cars when theres not much traffic behind me. I think I was extremely lucky this time! The car that was behind me slowed down when it happened and pulled over to give me his details. Dealing with the cops was very unsatisfactory. I called the cops when the driver drove off and they asked for all the details; Where, when, how etc. and then told me to go into a station to report it in person. My dad and I then went to 2 stations which were both closed cause it was a weekend. Then went to a larger station which was open, but had like 1 officer at the desk :-? Once there, I told him that I already made a report on the phone earlier, but he told me he couldn't find it on the system..so spent the next 30 mins - 40mins explaining everything again while he slowly typed it in and asked a lady in the back for some advice. Once that was done, he then continued to explain that they couldn't really do anything, except "maybe" charge him for an offence and that I should be more wary when I'm around cars in the future. He also said that since the driver did not leave any details with me such as his name and phone number, I had no real way of proving that he was the one that caused the incident! Even though I had the car registration number, he said the car could belong to someone else which is a fair point. I then pointed out that I had a witness, but he then said that the witness couldn't prove anything either?! Finally he told me to go talk to the guy and see if I could get some money off him..and thats it. They never did end up charging the guy (I'm ok with this though, as the driver paid me back) and as far as I know, they never went to talk to him.
  3. My awesome red cannondale that I just brought is no more I've had my first road accident on 12th February where a driver fully kicked opened his door with me going at speed right behind his car. I managed to brake, swerve and avoided a direct hit, but the back left seat stay tube clipped his door and was ripped right off, resulting in me sliding onto my right side in the middle of the road. Thankfully I managed to escape with only a scrapped elbow and sore shoulder, but the bike is no longer usable. The driver said sorry and got me a plaster and a cup of water from his house, but as soon as I said that he was gonna have to pay for my bike, he panicked and drove off without giving me his details :dunno: . But at least I knew where he lived. After visiting the police station and confirming who was in the wrong, I was told to pretty much go and deal with it by myself. So armed with my trusty 4th year law girlfriend, we managed to write up a convincing letter and dropped it off at his house. Now after two meetings and numerous phone calls, we've managed to settle the incident with him paying for my bike. I've now brought a cheaper steel bike and continuing with road riding, but now I'm ALOT more wary of parked cars and slow down when I get near them

    Pygmy Cories

Sooo...after posting that I had 3 left, I've now found 5! :nilly: number 4 and 5 popped up on random days and I managed to catch and put them in the smaller tank Hopefully number 6 will show up eventually :happy2:
  5. HFF Mount Roskill sells solenoid valves that you could use to turn off the Co2 at night. However I couldn't justify the price IMO
  6. I've kept a pair of GBR's before and have had good results with them breeding, though I never got them to adult stage. I kept them at around 28 degrees and definitely wouldn't keep them in temps lower than 26 degrees. They lived in a matured fully planted tank with lots of places for them to explore and hide. If you keep more than one, there will almost always be aggression, but it never goes very far. The dominant male will usually be the brightest coloured. I fed mine a variety of tetra colour bits, flakes and blood worms. Have fun! They're a very smart and personal fish
  7. Excellent series, I highly recommend it! The books are much darker I think and are much more detailed compared to the tv series, like any other books made into TV shows I got so attached to the series, I read one of the books in 1 day
  8. Hm ok, funny enough, it seems that this bike came with a very padded seat It was definitely sore the first 2 times I rode it, but now it doesn't seem to bother me at all. The mountain bike I was riding before this had a much harder seat &c:ry

Corydoras pygmaes Could be possible they're dying of age...but hopefully not :tears:
  10. Looks awesome! Could try 'Rotala wallichii'/Red pine? I've stuck a stem under a similar tube and it seems to be growing, but slowly
  11. What do you mean by walking funny...

In the 100L it was black seachem flourite sand, a 2mm fine substrate not damaging to their barbels. I also have 12 albino cories in there doing well. The 36L is sparsely planted so I can see them quite well. Substrate in there are 2-3mm gravel, also not damaging to their barbels. Both tanks have areas of high current as well as almost zero in some places. While hiding, they're in the calm spots. Its possible that I may need to get alot more of them, more than 6... 10+ maybe, but they're not cheap for their size :nilly:
  13. yea, I 'think' it was a good deal as well, wasn't supposed to spend that much, but its nice to ride It also came with 2 sets of spare brake levers, a 7 disc cassette and a bike shirt. :dunno: I'm the engine? Got up to 62km/h downhill
  14. So....I ended up spending alot more than $150... :nilly: I Brought this; TM Description; Alloy Dollar reserve 53cm (to centre of top tube). RSX componentry. Professional weld to seat stay. Good training bike Got it for $265, yes it was definitely impulsive... but I'm pretty happy with it Everything is in a well maintained condition and all gears and brakes shift very smoothly. From research, Cannondale (USA) seems to be a very good bike maker. Back wheel is Campagnolo (Italy) and Front is Mavic (France) Its pretty light with the frame made from aluminium alloy and the Shimano RSX STI gear levers are very convenient when I get to the hills. Any opinions welcome

    Pygmy Cories

I currently have 3 remaining pygmy cories after purchasing 6 half way through last year. They were originally in my 100L fully planted tank and seemed like they were doing ok the first month or so. However, as the plants continued to fill in the tank, I pretty much lost track of the cories as they hardly came out. From what I know, pygmys tend to swim in mid water as often as they are on the ground, but mine hardly ever do that except during water changes when they're disturbed. Slowly over the months, I've lost them one by one. My biggest concern were that they weren't eating (though I can't be sure as they're always hiding) I've moved the remaining 3 to a 36L tank with guppies, but still no changes. They seem to sit on the bottom all day doing nothing at all and not even noticing when food falls around them  Does anyone else have these little guys? How many do you have and whats your tank environment like? Thanks, any help appreciated
  16. Happy New Year guys I'm a rabbit btw, and the description almost sounds like me! But I'm a risk taking rabbit, I date a Snake
  17. Fantastic pictures! Love watching these, but cant stand the smell
  18. In TM, they split road bike categories into Small (52cm & under), Medium (53 - 56cm), and Large (57cm & over) Do the measurements refer to the centre of the crank to the top of the seat tube? If my height is 167cm, which category would work for me? small and med? :-?
  19. Yea, hoping to find something old school so it won't cost too much, but don't wanna get caught up repairing alot, though don't mind replacing tires, brake pads etc. Something with a bit more than 10 speed good for going up hills faster? (used to 21 speeds on MTB lol)
  20. hey guys, I'm looking for a cheap old road bike that will allow me to keep up with my mates, instead of struggling with a mountain bike! &c:ry Looking for something below $150 OR I have a 90cm T5HO light unit with 2 working tubes I could swap Pretty much anything considered, so if anyone has an old road bike in Auckland lying around unused that doesn't need Major attention, has some form of gears and would fit my height of 167cm, PM me with some details! Thanks
  21. I've almost lost fish a few times as well due to lack of O2. Since then I've positioned my spray bars so that they cause surface agitation, but not enough to break the water surface. Haven't had any problems since then
  22. Hey guys, just wondering if these plants are around? If anyone has some, I would be very interested in purchasing/swapping for them. Will do my best to grow them with High light + Ferts + Co2 Thanks
