  1. Blue Hygro, Ludwigia, Baby Tears, Lysamchia. PM me if you want to buy.
  2. They have a lot of staff to pay there. The office is really full.
  3. If you have got the air out of the filter it is probably the impellor. Had the same problem yesterday. Apparently they loose the magnetism too.

    canisters?

If you want one to last buy Eheim. AquaOne always leak water into cabinet when cleaning and take so long to clean in comparison to Eheim. Yesterday we had to replace the impellor in an Aquaone and it is only a year old. You get what you pay for and a 2nd hand Eheim will outlast an AquaOne by years.
  5. We find Osram cool white the best. The ones from Bunnings don't last very long. Colour 860 or 865. Get ours from Rexel.
  6. Check out: http://www.nzte.govt.nz/develop-knowled ... rtise.aspx http://www.homebizbuzz.co.nz/ ACC relates to how much you earn and your occupation so not necessarily that expensive and you won't be paying it until after your first year in business from memory. Registering for GST is a good idea if you are going to be spending quite a bit on startup as you will be able to claim the GST back. Check out the IRD website too.
  7. The weather down this way has brought the white spot out. We struck 2 gold fish tanks with it today but should have it cleared up in no time. I was talking to a wholesaler of fish recently and he recommended (for clowns) not to move them but treat whole tank and did not recommend raising temp either. I am about to move some tomorrow and dreading it.
  8. Peter at Port Nicholson Glass has done quite a few down this way and I no he is not adverse to travel if the price is right. In saying that you should know what you want as most glaziers/tank makers are not fish experts.
  9. Hygrophilia Cormbosa - I get this growing up to in hexagonals a meter deep and have to prune. It doesn't require high light. I have also had ludwigia and baby tears grow to this height but takes ages. What about ambulia?
  10. Using timber frame around the tank if it is a tight fit will bring the glass back in and hold it there till the glue cures. we have repaired several like this with the fish still in the tank. We went back today and topped the tank up and it is now stronger than ever. You might be better to put a wider glass brace through the centre.
  11. Make sure you drop the water level down for a few days while the glue cures. Had a brace go on a tank the other day and we dropped the water level, made a wooden frame (tight fitting) around the whole tank and re-siliconed brace into place. Will go back tomorrow and get water level back up.
  12. We use them in all our gold fish displays. They will live above 18 but we set the heater to 20.
  13. It was an absolute delight to deliver the bouncer and see the handsome wee man. Anytime for you.
  14. I was talking to the sales rep today and he said that Eheim always understate the litres per hour whereas others overstate. Anyway if anyone wants a CF1000 make me an offer.
  15. We run mostly eheims but do have a few fluvals and AquaOnes. The interesting thing is that when we compare the flow from an aquaone to an eheim of lesser litres per hour the eheim always appears to have more out put than the aquaone. Also the aquaone when cleaning is always messier than the eheim and more time consuming. We have an eheim here that is almost 30 years old and still going strong.
  16. Why don't you try Peter at Port Nicholson Glass. His are $1 per litre and are made of 10mm glass. He is the best in the area.
  17. Biochemzorb in your filter will have the tank crystal clear in a matter of hours.
  18. A lot of them have poly built into the base or a very thin poly underneath them - Ive never seen one without and we have quite a few.
  19. Bio Chem Zorb pad in the filter will have your water crystal clear within hours.
  20. the lead used for aquarium plants has a special coating on it so there is no problem. We always use it.
  21. I would be raising the PH as goldfish prefer over 7. Use some oyster grit which will do it slowly so as not to stress the fish. I would also add some plain salt to help with healing and watch that the children are not overfeeding. Perhaps do a gravel vac just to make sure.
  22. Silicone does not adhere to acrylic very well so you will need to purchase a suitable primer first. It used to be Fosroc No9 but the company name has changed. Placemakers can get it but unfortunately it is not cheap.
  23. I was hoping to get some bags made as they are really expensive. Thought I would order one and then get something similar made. I have used Bio Chem Zorb which also makes the water really clear but can't be rejuvenated like the Purigen.
  24. I realise that Allan and they are done, but when you have over 100 tanks to look after you always want to improve the quality of the display for your customers. Purigen sounds great and I was really looking for opinions on the product from people that had used it.
