  1. King can you please please please post some pics? Lol..
  2. But how is a VIP XB different from a normal XB? The saturation of the gold scaling?
  3. OMG. I am absolutely speechless. Perfect fish. Perfect body shape/ proportion/ colouration/ scaling/ finnage. Imagine the genes it has. I think that the purple has to be derived from a green which shows purple tones somewhere along its genetic history (from what I've read). Insane cross breeding to achieve such a fish. It's. So. Beautifulllllllll. :tears:
  4. For anybody else curious enough to see what a black base XB looks like: !drool: !drool: !drool:
  5. I use Photopad Image Editor. Pretty sure it's a free download. Really easy to use and allows you to adjust all sorts of settings - think of it as simplified Photoshop. Stuff like brightness/ contrast/ warmth/ colour tone/ etc can all be tinkered with without all the confusion which comes with Photoshop.
  6. I agree with the difference in colour. Yours was more solid but lacks the higher scale. The contender has the higher scale but is speckled (which is a shame). Henward, yours was more of a yellow gold but the contender's was a deeper, almost bronze gold (which I somehow liked more lol). I think the keywords FEW YEARS just saved your bacon lol. Don't be the guy who got divorced before he got married! But if you do invest in an XB, go for one with a base colour. My dream aro is still a blue base XB. Note: DREAM. !drool: My birthday is in a couple more months *COUGH*.. I'm just saying.. *COUGH* (apologies for my sore throat )
  7. lol, for all we know, they're feeding centipedes just because of the red legs! But the best live food I've seen is red super worms. Breeders gut load the super worms and god-knows-what to the extent that the worms turn red from all the carotenoids they've consumed lol. THAT will make your fish blush haha.
  8. Yeah, somehow the contender aro's body shape isn't as muscular, even though it's supposed to be a 4.5 year old fish! I suspect that because it's asia, the owner probably did not feed it pellets and relied on MP and insects alone. Water current probably played a part as well because Henward's tank had a lot of water movement which encourages muscle development - the contender aro probably had a lazy life haha!
  9. Hi all Spotted this video on another forum, posted by its owner and thought it'd be fun to compare it with our resident Henward's RTG. Henward's: The contender: My opinion is that Henward's has much, much more bulk but it lacks one scale of gold which the other one has (though that is genetics because the contender is a high-scale RTG). Colour-wise, it's a bit hard to tell because of the different lightings used in each tank. Henward's has a more even colouration but the contender has a higher shine. What do you guys reckon? :dunno:
  10. Hmmm.. Based on logical guess-work, if a centipede sting can make a grown man hurt/ itch, then the reaction to a relatively smaller arowana would be worse, right? But I don't think I've heard of aros dying from centipedes before.. Mostly they die from jumping jacks and food getting stuck somewhere along the line.
  11. It looks awesome! Wish I had a tank like that at work haha.. But I think my productivity would decrease lol..
  12. I wonder if removing the front stingers of a centipede would make it safe for aro consumption? TBH, I don't know where the venom producing glands are, but if they are near the head then removing it would guarantee the safety of the aro from potential poisoning. I don't know if there's anything in a centipede which makes an aro redder, but I guess it would be a good source of protein since it is part of the creepy crawly world.
  13. Pretty sure this video has been posted here before but it's still really cool: The behind the scenes of Takashi Amano's tank..
  14. lol, I rarely ever treat myself to an eye fillet but never bat an eyelid when buying fish food.. Quite sad really, lol! &c:ry
  15. Family violence is not OK.. But Family Wrestling is a different thing altogether! :slfg:
  16. Try not to use the flash because it just burns against the glass, destroying a nice shot. Also, try to anticipate where the fish will head to next, so by focusing on the fish, you simply have to Click! as soon as you see it stop moving for a split second. Of course, a good camera makes things infinitely easier (though exponentially more expensive).. HTH!
