  1. thanks everyone !! I will try to block the sunlight and see how it goes I keep on adding fertiliser and thinking that's the issue
  2. I just know they are T5 lighting, and the tank is sitting against the windows which got direct sunlight too. Should I keep all 3 tubes or start reducing light perhaps?
  3. Hi there My plants are not growing straight for some odd reasons... I have a CO2 system (but it's pretty useless) with 3 T5 tubes. What should I do to make my plants grow straight???? Cheers Vir
  4. awesome, beautiful tank !!! I am working on mine too but it's not getting anywhere at the moment... oh well
  5. emm - nitrate the blue colour one when I do my testing??
  6. 15 fish - 10 of them are very tiny...
  7. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 200496.htm Does this work?
  8. there's no ammonia in the water Oranda, 6 months old, Juwel Rio 300.... Would that be caused by adding too much plants in the tank?
  9. there's blood in the fin - what's the best way to fix this?
  10. it's fin rot again !!! I went away for a few days and the fish got a shredded tail.. why do my fish keep on getting fin rot?
  11. changes from clear/transparent to opaque white
  12. one of my oranda/fantail starts having white patches on the tail - what does this mean? the fish has slowed down recently and I have checked the water quality - no ammonia nor nitrate.. Ph is around 7.7 I have added a lot of plants into my tank and have done water and filter change.. is my fish sick or the weather is too hot?
  13. i got a 60x30x30 tank that I wanna use as my planted tank !! and i missed out the hairgrass sales :( damn... I got a spare tank 60x30x30 that I don't need....if anyone wants that tank, happy to swap that with a few plants or fish...

  15. but if you have goldfish, what sort of live plants can you keep? I have been buying so much plants and my fishy just keep on pulling them out....
  16. i have a eheim filter and it's great !!!! I think it's one of the best filters out there...
  17. i used that for my cold water tank (well, oranda tank)... it reduces algea for me, other than that, not too sure....
  18. FYI - my beautiful da bo (oranda) dies on Tuesday.. I rushed back home after work and she passed away
  19. I wish we can have Koi here......... perfect pond fish !
  20. wow - that's a lot of inspections. Stella - sorry about my ignorance. I came from a place where everything is accessible and people and animals are still living ok. (I have to admit that clean air is not available though) It's still a shame that the variety we have is relatively limited. Just a question - why dont' they sell native fish in the shop and breed them? they will promote their growth, wouldn't it???
  21. ok - my christmas project then !!!! *expected failure* I am quite glad that I am into oranda rather than freshwater at the moment....
  22. sigh.. getting anything into this country is sooo hard.... yet we are not disease free.... oh well.. the big price for clean air i suppose Should I give up then....I still want my cherry shrimp Thanks everyone for the input though !! i have learnt a lot in the past 3 days
  23. lol.. drilling down a bit more, it's more complicated than what it requires in Canada... I think it will be much easier for me to leave this country and go to somewhere else where Cherry Shrimp is available.. haha I think I will still submit the application for the sake of it... I have been looking through the quarantine requirement and this clause is so not fair !!!! As the supervisor is required to make frequent visits to the facility (see 6.4.1) the operator shall agree to pay the costs associated with these visits. just that they want to visit for whatever reasons, I need to pay?! should i take the risk just have that courier without the permit and quarantine facility? hehe.. not a wise choice I guess
