    Worst find

Aw, that sucks! You think he's eaten the fry too, or because she's been eaten, the fry have been gobbled up by something else in the tank?
  5. what's the difference betwen Epsom and tonic salt?

    New Addiction

Yeah, you're probably right, but also the most fantastic and interesting fish (IMO anyway!!)

    New Addiction

I just received 2 L270 (Chocolate Zebra Plecos) from MrPleco, and have found a new addiction....they are the most awesome fishes ever, and are so beautiful! So, can someone tell me other awesome plecos are out there? What are your fave plecos???
  8. Maybe you could add driftwood or peat to lower the pH? If you did lots of water changes on the 2ft to raise the pH at the same time to make the pH change less great, it would probably be better for them.
  9. I think we need to talk to TV3 - I want that question asked in the leader's debates - "What is your stance on allowing more exotic fish, birds and reptiles into New Zealand?"
  10. Epoxy! That's what I was trying to say! It seals and doesn't leach stuff into the tank.
  11. How awesome, those pics are great for the rest of us to drool over!!!
  12. I've seen people taping zip lock bags tight over the lens, then putting it in 2 or 3 sealed bags to prevent leakage. Not something I'd do though!
  13. Maybe you could use acrylics then put a urethane over it? I'm not sure what they'd be like in terms of fish safety though. You'll have to post pics when you've started building, it sounds like an awesome idea!!
  14. The Olympus Stylus 1050 SW can go 30ft. They're good cameras, take nice pics. They're shockproof to 10ft, waterproof 10 30ft, and freeze proof. The older model is the Stylus 1030 SW is shock proof to 10ft, waterproof to 30ft. They're great cameras, and you don't need a waterproof case or anything.

    Plecos

I was looking at them too. Do they seem legit?
  16. You learn something new everyday! Not that I have a dragon to bathe or anything, but do they like the water? Do you put it's head under? What do they do in the wild?
  17. I've been told that pink bellies in angelfish means something. She couldn't remember what it is, and mine don't have pink bellies, but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone has heard about this? I from what she was saying, I think she means when the whole underside area displays a pinkish colour. Thanks guys.
  18. I used to have small stones but changed to sand. I found that sand is much easier, you can see all the crap sitting on top, and the fish tend to stir it up so it can get sucked up by the filter.
  19. what's the benefit of stripping them?
  20. actually it doesn't work like that. The temp will be about 25deg. When you add cold water, the water in the tank raises the temp of the water and lower the temp of the tank water. It's all about equilibriums - you can't do 30 - 10 = new temp.
  21. water changes shouldn't drop your tell by 10c. If you were to do a as with cols water, you might drop the temp by 4c - 6c. Remember, the temp of the water out of your taps isn't freezing. On a usual day, the Water out of my taps is about 10c, and by the time you mix that with tank water, it's not really a problem. I'm sure it would be if you live somewhere cold though.
