  1. sure thing aaron! that's what we are all here for. :bounce:
  2. cute! its got a long tail... but that is usually a relative way of sexing them. could be a boy. another way is by the length of the nails but he has a bit of growing to do before then  then again my turtles never had long claws cause they were always worn down.
  3. alan is spot on with that one. if it is making your eyes burn it is indeed monochloro amine. aqua plus and stress coat both remove the chloramines in water, so you could use that. if your tanks are huge - prime is a more cost effective method - but is extremely expensive to buy.
  4. big. a lori cage must be at least 3ft high if not more; 2 ft deep. bigger is better. and you must let it out all the time and socialise it more than you would your child, lol. if not all you will have is an upset, loud and unpleasant bird around the house. toys should ideally be shuffled around especially if you are not there during the day, and you should get mentally stimulating toys. mirrors are a big no no with any bird. hope that helps yuna.
  5. ive never seen the tropica on any plant suppliers list, and it has never come in as something else by mistake either. as for the other one... the Phillipine - it occasionally comes through as java fern in a shop. when you order heaps in you can see some difference in the two types.
  6. How much and what are you feeding them? feed them peas for the next few meals.
  7. and hopefully in time you will see no substrate  8)
  8. i use a nutrafin one on my 4 ft. im unsure if it is actually making a difference but my plants do very well in that tank. best of luck growing the plants in the tank - tetras look awesome swimming through the foliage.
  9. that's the beauty of a rimless tank. ages ago i had a 5 ft rimless tank. front and 2 sides were 1 piece of glass. if you got more lighting like you want - you can give riccia a shot. its an awesome tank. u planning on getting a CO2 system running?
  10. love the emperors and the background. is it the juwel? with that lighting your plants will be very happy indeed.... :bounce:
  11. the one ive seen is only 4 -5 cm long and is really v v cute. he is a real character too... ill be getting him after wednesday, and then maybe ill get another one later on and leave the tank at that. hopefully it works well.
  12. breed rosy barbs.. they do really well outside, and if the water goes green you wont believe how beautiful the fish look when its time for them to come back in!
  13. they treat the water with Cl on the north shore... im not sure about anything south of that im afraid.
  14. same, i do 50% water changes with a hose only in summers though and dont lose fish cause of it. i do add some dechlorinator as the water is let in. and then i leave it to fill... occasionally ill even drain the tank as it fills if i need a larger water change.
  15. oh wow... the new leaves look completely different! and awesome! :bounce: I hope mine turn out like that - ill be thrilled!
  16. that peace lilly thing is a fantastic idea. its a pity they are so expensive here... have never seen them sell for $2 or any thing near that in palmy, but if i ever do see them im going to do exactly what you have - awesome idea.
  17. american tiger huh? ive seen that chart thing you had up on here, so ill be looking as well... but worst case scenario - ive seen a 4 cm tiger that i liked though i dont know which one it is.
  18. no idea. maybe they dont like it in there. i got 12 about 2 months ago and within 3 hours all 12 dead. just like red tail sharks... cant have them either.
  19. tiger barbs die in my tank... within minutes.
  20. ha ha i know. if i get them small enough though i can make sure they don't eat plants. oh well. i will still get at least 1 borneo tiger. ideally at least 2. so i still need to know everything about them, and ive already read soooo much about them!
  21. does a dwarf datnoid exist? im just imagining a group of them swimming through the plants! and so now i want. but i cant have fish that wont be rehomed fast. i might get just 1 or 2 then.... hmm.. thanks hans, and dixon.
  22. what other fish? lol.. they all gone! only got the apsitos which have a new house. im going to skip the delhizi cause i just got told it will destroy my precious plants. the aro was a dream... sigh.. i miss having aros. i wanted a tiny as aro though. like 5 cm. i can get one too i think. edit - oh and i havent got the pictus yet. will only get them if the tank can cope with the fish. so basically looking at a 4ft with a few plecs and borneos.
