  1. Yuck, nearly looks as bad as Bam's dick brand on his butt. Some tattoo's are cool, but they're just way too perminant for me. I know what the silver fern on my 92 year old grandfathers arm looked like at his age, I think there will be some hella ugly looking old people around in years to come...
  2. I'm presuming you have a large cycled tank waiting at the other end?
  3. I bet they love you with 600L of water changes per week, must have a mad water bill!!
  4. Could you just overlap it over the glass/perspex window and silicone it? My biggest problem with using pond liner would be the creases in the corners, or could you cut and glue it?
  5. It could be $50-100+ for a 2400x1200 sheet depending on the thickness, grade and if you want it treated. Any H3 treated ply will be fine, doesn't need to be marine grade. DD grade is probably all you need, DD is rough on both sides, CD means smoothed for painting on one side, rough on the other. Try Carters for prices, and ask for a 'Mates Rates Card' first as it gets you 15% off retail. You could build a steel or timber frame, then line it with treated ply for the structural support, then use thin sheets of perspex to line it and silicone the joins for water tightness. Would be cheaper than building a tank from big sheets of perspex/acrylic, and easier as the joins only need to be water tight, not structural, as the weight is supported by the frame and ply. Another option is to fiberglass inside the ply then seal it with an aquarium safe sealant, or you might even be able to use plastic pond liner.
  6. I transported my 20"+ black aro to auckland in a big chilly bin. It was only about 60x40cm (maybe? Can't remember, fish didn't have a huge amount of space tho). Don't worry about the water temp at this time of year, unless you're doing it at night time on the back of a ute or something. Aeration should be alright if there's enough water in there, use a large container and only half fill it so there is plenty of air too. Starve it for 5+ days before hand so it doesn't pollute the water, and maybe use something like ammolock to help keep the ammonia down. I was sh!t scared of moving mine, drained the tank to half and removed everything except the gravel, had towels everywhere, ready to pick it up if it ended up on the floor. It was the last fish left in the tank, and didn't really put up a fight once caught, and seemed quite peaceful once in the chillybin. Good luck! Take some pics and let us know how it went and what you'd do differently next time.
  7. I didn't even go in there!!! I was there on friday night for the registration for a car club event. Any pics? What species?
  8. First dibs on the one you havent got yet!! Don't do it eh, just get the bigger tank and they'll be sweet.
  9. No idea. I asked it but it didn't reply. If it is then it hasn't grown much in length, but got a bit thicker in height and width.
  10. If this doesn't happen we should try to find someone who will bring in a few low grade asian aro's for a reasonable price.
  11. oi! I saw it first!! Vinson its not the mis-named part, I'm going to try to persuade them to sell it or swap it for a large silver.
  12. alright alright.... In the display with all the tinfoil barbs and silver sharks is a nice big black arowana, probably around 20" and beautiful! They've got it labeled as Osteoglossum bicirrhosum, and I can't help but wonder if they even know the difference...
  13. Nope, didn't even see one there!
  14. I'm not telling! It was nothing bad, just something mis-labelled that I'd like to remedy by swapping for the correct fish..
  15. I went there over the weekend and spotted something. Does anyone have any contacts/hook ups with people who worth there?? 8)
  16. Good stuff, the new dat looks great!! I was kinda expecting to see something else tho... After seeing these fish in person I don't think anyone should criticise how they are kept. The water is clean and clear, and the fish are all healthy and active, isn't that what its all about?? 8)
  17. Other than sit in his pipe and get fat? Not really....
  18. Surely that has to be B.S considering they need a latin name to be imported, or maybe it helps stop the importers getting in trouble if stuff has been incorrectly identified? They are on the list as Acarichthys heckelii, so thats obviously what they have been imported as. I'm guessing the shop calling them Geophagus was either too lazy to id them correctly, or someone still thinks they're a Geophagus (and probably thinks the genus Cichlasoma is current..). Cool pics Mystic, how big are those? I think it was your pics in a thread about geo's that inspired me to get them.
  19. Wow, looks big! I don't usually think of apisto's as getting that size.
  20. One word: POTM 8) Are they two jurapari in the second photo? What is the cichlid below the orange discus? Kinda lookslike a salvini, but surely not with discus!
  21. There's a big one at HFF Mt Roskill I think? Used to belong to AProphecy, but he sold it because it only grew to 12" I think.
  22. PM'd. I'm sure Greg wouldn't want his personal cell phone number posted here, especially given that word-of-mouth is his best form of advertising...
  23. Flag the crabs, I want an aussie lungfish!!!!
