  1. Warm and sunny, heavy rain, cold and windy, we've had it all today.....
  2. A typical lfs-sized juvi will be fine in that tank for a year or more., but then you will have the trouble of moving it when it gets bigger...
  3. Depends how long its been in that tank as it may be a bit stunted, but it could still gro at an inch a month (or faster) in a good sized tank. They 5' would certainly have to be a temporary home and you should budget for something larger within a year tops.
  4. If its only 35cm and a year old its possibly a bit stunted. At that size it will be alright in the 5' tank until its about 20" and then it will want something longer. 8x3x2' will house it for a long ling time. *edit* Was it this one? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =224109819 You are actually allowed to post a link to a trademe auction that you are genuinely interested in buying. IMO its not worth anywhere near that much, for an extra $200 you could have a green asian aro which will be a better long-term option in your tank. If you want a silver you could go buy a juvi for 1/4 the price and keep it in that tank for around 18 months.
  5. I got my 6' from Hollywood, the tank may have been a little more expensive than from Greg (I'm guessing, I don't actually know because he never got back to me with a quote) but they were able to provide the stand, pumps, heaters etc and did a good deal on the whole package. I could possibly have got stuff cheaper getting cheap and nasty bits off TradeMe but personally I'd rather support those who support the hobby, and I know if I have a problem with any of it they'll sort it asap.
  6. I presume its got an LSD? Tyres would be your best investment, even if they are just semi's, stripped with hard rear suspension and sticky tyres you should get your low 13 with 200 whp.
  7. Stella the rays are fresh water, from the amazon, there's many different varieties some even more attractive than those. Sadly we can't keep them here, even though theres a zero chance of them escaping and breeding and eating native fish. Fry would be asian aros.
  8. What tyres are you running, because you won't get anywhere near it with out a good set. I've seen b18c's (not type r) with <120kw at the front wheels run low 13's, and turbo hondas with big power run mid 14s. Set up is everything with a fwd, even more so with plenty of power.
  9. www.slipstreamperformance.co.nz Mark Evans is well known in the Honda community for producing high quality stuff, and now does the full range of Workshop X kits since James shut up shop. Not sure if he does any to fit the cars you're looking for, but I can vouch for his work. (even though I've never owned a car with a body kit!)
  10. I've got 5 from the same lot from Hollywood, and they do seem a bit aggressive with one another. They are in a 600L tank with a whole bunch of other fish so they usually have space to stay out of each others way.

    Aloe vera

Aloe is a genus, like Tropheus or Polypterus, there are about 500 species and most of them have little or no medicinal value. Chances are that its not the real deal Aloe vera, have a look at the photos and description here to make sure you actually have the right plant...
  12. PETA would have us believe that any kind of fish keeping is cruel...
  13. I've found Jagers to be well worth the extra dollars over the cheaper types, much more accurate and reliable thermostat.
  14. Our water here in east auckland is about 15C from the tap, I've been heating it in 200L lots in a barrel, so with a 300L wc only 1/3 of it is cold.
  15. I don't think they'd appreciate the humidity!
  16. I haven't made one for a tank, but I have done one for growing plants. The heating cable goes in a bed of sand about 100mm thick. I don't think it'll work very well on the back of the tank, would really need to be under it.
  17. Not quite, but I doubt the number is anywhere near triple digits.
  18. If you had a spate tank/cage I could possibly house them, depending on when it is as I'm off to wellington for two weeks on Monday, but I haven't got anywhere to keep them.
  19. Do you have tanks/cages for them and are just looking for somewhere to put them?
  20. Looks good, but most of those fish will prefer softer water so you might need to get rid of the shells (or some of them). What is the pH of the water you're adding to the tank? Unless its well below 6 I wouldn't worry.
  21. Sony NWZ-S616F is the model, the cable has a USB plug at one end and a Sony-specific plug at the other.
  22. Somehow when we moved house I have lost the cable that connects my Sony MP3 player to the computer. No biggie I thought, I'll just go into Sony and get a new one.... FIFTY DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!! The whole damn player only cost $200!! I really don't feel like paying that much for a simple cable with two little plugs on the end, so I'm putting a call out to anyone who knows anyone who has had a Sony MP3 player lost/stolen/broken or simply has a spare cable they want to sell. Surely there must be an abundance of spare cables somewhere out there, I've looked on TradeMe but haven't found any, or any cheap chinese knock-offs. I'm happy to pay up to half what Sony want, including shipping, if someone has one...
  23. Go to Bunnings and buy a $20 power meter so you can measure the kWh the heater [or anything] uses.
