  1. Seeing the ribs showing through on any fish isn't good. I hope he eats well enough to gain more weight. :-? I know its hard to get these beautiful fish to gain weight so good luck.
  2. New lawn mower blenny, cowrie snail, GBTA and corals. I have taken about 10 snails out so the blenny stays fat and busy.
  3. Electric yellows are getting bad now. get some yellows from a good breeder and keep them stress free with good water and quality food and you will have some nicer looking fish. Waste of time breeding bad ones like this.
  4. I keep my worms in a wooden box in the wardrobe. Never gets too cold or too hot. Doesn't get too wet but sometimes gets a little dry in the bottom. I feed bread soaked in water once every few weeks and this keeps the dirt moist. Once a year I will scope out the moist dirt with worms (which is always in the top 3rd of the box) and replace the old dirt below with clean dirt mixed with sand. Mix it all back together and feed again. I have had the same culture going for the last 3+ years now and always have food for my fish. A piece of glass on the top to make harvesting them easier. I have never had a single worm try climb out. Photo below shows where they have finished a piece of bread and are ready for a new piece. I don't feed them too often so the population doesn't get too much for the size of the box. I have also heard of people throwing a hand full of worms into their compost and getting huge cultures going. You have to be carefull to feed the compost the right stuff though so you don't make it too acidic.
  5. :lar: I have seen someone buy a car on trade me while drunk before. Was funny because he didn't remember buying it and couldn't figure out why someone was contacting him the next day to ask when he wanted to come pick it up. :rolfl: He did follow through with the trade in the end though. Note to self: STAY OFF THE COMPUTER WHEN DRINKING!
  6. That is why you should always do a leak test on all tanks, new or old, before you bring them inside.
  7. Only a few schooling fish and a maroon clown. Nothing really to look at yet.
  8. haha not anymore. corals seem easier and cheaper to get than some of the fish I was wanting to put in here. And I am actually succeeding keeping them alive easier than I thought. So I will keep going.
  9. Just cleaned the back glass, was covered in algae. Still a little bit floating around the tank that i didn't manage to remove.
  10. If you want it sent with a heat pack then just ask. I did and that is what I get
  11. I seen global pc. http://www.globalpc.co.nz/Computers/Transformers/Mains/Index.aspx and seem to be good prices. I just need to figure out exactly what I need since people are bringing up things that confuse me and I realize I need to make sure I get this right.
  12. Thanks warren I need 24VDC. It will be going through a rectifier and the through a capacitor to smooth it out. Here is one overseas that is recommended by the driver supplier. http://www.mpja.com/24V-10A-Center-Tapped-12-0-12-Transformer/productinfo/7846%20TR/ Each stepper motor will draw 3A and I have 3 of them. I don't know much about all of this so I am learning as I go.
  13. No it will be for making RC model parts and any other projects. I will also use it to make a bigger and better cnc machine.
  14. :slfg: It will be used to cut out any shape that I tell it to. For example...
  15. Thanks for the replies Yea tried element. Couldn't find anything on their site. I will check RS components. I have a few numbers I am going to ring tomorrow. Found a site transformers.co.nz that look promising.
  16. Shouldn't cost me more than 30-40$. I found one but have to wait till tomorrow to call them. Other than that I have nothing after doing many google searches.
  17. I am making a cnc machine and I am at the stage of making the driver and electronics. I have soldered up the CPB and need a transformer for it. Specs required: input - 240V, 60Hz output - 24V @ 10A I have looked around online but haven't found anything. I prefer to buy from NZ as I don't want to have to wait for it. Anyone know where I can find one?
  18. LFS and Diacks have Aviverm as a bird wormer. Try them, its not expensive.
  19. I got levamisole from the LFS as a bird wormer (Aviverm). Here are my notes on what I use to do: Treatment: (Treat with lights off) 1 - Perform a largish water change before treatment. 2 - Treat once for 24hrs. 3 - Do a largish water change & vacuum to remove worms. 4 - Return tank to normal lighting / feeding / cleaning cycle. 5 - Treat again 5-7 days after a water change. 6 - Do another water change + vacuum. 7 - Treat a 3rd time after 1-2 weeks. 8 - Do another water change. TREATMENT COMPLETE Dosage: 1ml of 23% Aviverm per 115ltrs (2mg/l) This is how I have treated my fish many times with success. Even clown loaches with worms, aka. skinny disease. Its easier to do in a hospital tank. HTH
  20. It's braided clear PVC hose. Doesn't kink like the normal clear PVC hose when bending around corners. I got it from blackwood pykles. Was about $50 for 6m.
  21. Changed my plumbing layout today. Finally finished the overflow drain and added valves to the pump outside to make water changes easier. I just have to attach a hose, close a valve and open another to do a water change Got tired of looking at the bare bottom so gave in and added some sand.
  22. Clear PVC siphon pipe fish :lar: Sorry I have always done the cleaning myself. Young BNs would be best IMO, lost of them if they are smaller than 4-5cm. acclimatize them slowly. They can handle the temps but not for ever. Snails would be another option.
