  1. Wow that really looks awesome.
  2. Yep, I was going to go for planted tank with discus.
  3. Yeah I'm super excited, biggest tank I've ever had was like 100L, the one I have currently is 60L. So this one is going to be ALOT of fun. Can't wait, I'll take pictures etc when I set it up.
  4. No one in Christchurch has a black one at a reasonable price that I'm away of, I phoned around yesterday
  5. Ordered myself a black one, going to cost me $2450, but it's local so no hassle of driving to Christchurch and petrol etc. Only catch is apparently the supplier is out so I have to wait until December oh well. Good things take time right!?
  6. I just gave redwood a ring, looks like he's fresh out of black. Only beech left.
  7. Hey missed that post in there. Thanks for the offer but I'll have the tank by then (I hope!).
  8. Yeah, I think I'll just take the Jeep if I need up getting it from Christchurch. Rather spend more on petrol than have to come all the way back and get the bigger car anyway
  9. Convenience is also great like you pointed out. I was Looking at doing a South American setup, but after looking at your African setup in your signature I'm having second thoughts lol!
  10. I do like the look of the Juwel, I am going more for aesthetics than price (to a limit). I have a honda civic sedan. That's what I was thinking, tank on the back seat stand in the boot. The one thing that I thought of though was getting the tank in the back may prove difficult because of it's length and the fact the doors don't open square. Moving front seats forward might solve that though.... just don't want to get to Christchurch and not be able to get the thing in the car...
  11. Ah awesome, thanks a lot. Just need to figure out the petrol cost of getting to Christchurch and back... and whether the tank will be able to fit in my sedan or whether I will have to borrow my parents Jeep, which would make petrol more... might end up cheaper getting it locally for 2.6k
  12. I got the same pricing differences with the stands depending on the colour. Where did you get that quote from? Cheapest I've seen.
  13. To think I was going to buy one of those magnet cleaners. Thanks for the post!
  14. I've emailed them as their website is moving or something, still waiting on a reply.
  15. What method of treatment are you going to use? using? Be interested to hear about the results, also what temperature is your tank normally?
  16. Got two quotes so far, both around $2600 for tank and stand.
  17. Thanks for that, I found the topic you mentioned. I'm seriously considering taking the hit to the wallet for a Rio 400.
  18. I'm guessing some people here must have some? Looking at specifically the Rio 400, but feel free to share experience about any of the large sizes. Is the filtration good? How does the heater cope? etc. Cheers, Scott
  19. I've had bad experience with whitespot cure and rams, I've had whitespot a few times when I failed to quarantine new fish. The most successful way I've gotten rid of it is crank the tank temp to around 30-32 degrees (do it slowly, and same for when you reduce it again) and leave it like that for a week or so. I haven't lost any fish by increasing the temperature and it's killed the whitespot. I have 2 blue rams, glow light tetra, black neon tetra, 3 otto's, and 2 golden bristlenose in my tank. **EDIT** It's really worth investing in a quarantine tank.
  20. Can anyone tell me what a Juwel Rio 400 with stand costs (roughly)? Also who would stock them/be able to get it in (south island)? Cheers, Scott
  21. He's well coloured and seems healthy, and swimming around as usual. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the help.
  22. Doubt it, and I just saw it (not sure if it's male or female) poop. I'd say the anus looks inflamed. But I'm no fish expert.
  23. I have a blue ram and currently there is a red lump with a white wormy thing sticking out of it's anus. Should I be worried? What is this? Can it be treated? the lump is about 1mm from the anus and the wormy thing then protrudes a further 1mm. I havn't seen the worm move so I don't actually know if it's a worm lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Scott **EDIT** Just thought I might add that the blue ram seems to be eating fine and displaying normal behavior and none of the other fish are exhibiting any of the same signs.
