A plant store you say? what do plant people use it for?

argh crap - i'll try find some epsom then!! Any idea where to get it? Will i be able to get it easily from a super market?

ok so they are different then. The reading I did on the interweb said that normal aquarium salt is bad for plants and that epsom is better for them. They also say that epsom salt should be used in smaller doses than tonic or aquarium salt. so will they both aid to cure the same sort of things? or completely different things?

woah woah - I've been informed that epsom salt and tonic salt are different. Tonic salt is just normal rock salt that hasn't been iodised so that humans can eat it and not get goiter. But I think epsom salt is something different.

where do I find epsom salt? I've never heard of it. haven't tried the pea trick yet - surprisingly I have no peas in my house!!

New betta seems to have a bit of trouble staying at one level of the tank. Like if he stops in one place then he floats upward to the top. I'm worried he might be sick. Any ideas on what's wrong/if there is anything wrong/how to fix it? all help appreciated.

Just rummaged through mums cupboard and found a nice square glass vase that is near perfect to those dimensions. just not quite as tall. haha let's hope she doesn't notice that it's gone :lol:

Ok I think I understand you. I just need the tube that the air stone is in and the sponge on the outside of that?? No outter tube? none of this filter wool stuff? Your help is much appreciated

Just to bump this thread up a few years. I'm looking at building one of these myself, and found it easier to understand a diagram rather than photos of a build process I've been looking at. So I've edited the pictures according your posted specs - note the air stone is inside a tube. Is either of these correct? or does the bottom end need to be completely sealed up, so no holes are drilled. Should the tube with the air stone inside be sealed either end? and my main question, WILL IT WORK? HALP.

Shouldn't it be a baby dragon shower? like a baby shower? Having a 'warming' party is usually the case for a new house or flat - say you have a house warming party - or a flat warming party. Get the dragon some booties - or knit it a jumper.

One of my danios got a bit curious when i was doing a water change with a piece of hose the other day. Swam up to the end of the hose and got sucked in by the current - watched this little fish go through this tube and end up in the bucket i was emptying to. was hilarious haha. he was ok though. Gutted to hear you had a suicide!

Sunday star times had an article about people pushing to get goldfish bowls banned and they encouraged people not to buy them for goldfish and to investigate getting a tank if they were looking at getting gold fish.

Hardy fish has got to be a Danio. I'm keeping mine in an unheated tank in an unheated room. sometimes the tank can get to about 18c over night and they're still fine.

I've always been told that fighters should be kept solitary as anything that is colourful, or has long flowy fins is going to be a target for a fighter.
