  1. price tag is around the $200 mark but you never know, if you LFS doesnt stock that kind of fish you could possibly tempt them to order 1 in at a discounted rate... Very tricky fish and i miss keeping plecos when i see people pics... When he gets a bit bigger should be a easier job on ID but he looks nice and healthy and full of colour, nice score.

    BGK

general rule of thumb, aslong as it covers the fish or it thinks it is covered then it will be happy.

aslong as it has a nice big log to hide in it will be happy, being nocturnal it will be a nice addition to your tank. They are wicked fish!

    eBay?

NZ ebay is trademe.co.nz also there is a Private Trade on this website so have a look through that, most members have cuttings that the try and sel on cheaply.
  5. did anyone buy her? it hasnt been relisted in some time?
  6. yea i prefer locusts to crickets... so i guess i best get onto it then...
  7. good point, i just dont likt the idea of leaving heat lamps on overnight with no supervision and over plastic!!!
  8. could i use the cord instead of three lamps? just would be easier and cheaper? Um with the breeding i was going to have the adults in one tub with icecream containers filled with sand/peat. After 10 days remove the tub and put into the hatchling tank, then add more containers to keep the cycle going? then take around 20 of the hatchlings and place into the growout tank for future breeders? once the adults have died move them in and start all over again, and hopefully i will have more than enough to feed my soon to be hungry mouths.
  9. yes this is true as they are running a business. Gues i best start breeding up some locusts.
  10. Well I have decided that I am going to have to start breeding them so hows does this set-up sound... 3 plastic tubs 40Liter bins... 1 for adult breeding 1 for babys 1 grow out for future breeders to keep temp up i was thinking about just getting one of these and running under the tubs http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 620817.htm After i place the moist sand in the adult breeders should i just transfer it across the the baby tank after 10days and hope for the best... then add another ice cream carton of sand? keep that going as a cycle??? Food wise: just greens, as they appear the best
  11. they dont know that im getting them!!! nor do they know about the $$$ tag on them!!! they would kick up a storm me spending 5K on a pet!!! so easier to keep them in the dark on that one!!! Yeah all the big time breeders in the state all claim to use just Meal Worms and say have fantastic they are, that the can reach 40grams as fast as 4 months!
  12. Oh no i understand about the food source, It was just all the infomation that i read they told me that meal worms where the way to go. Mayby i need to look at breeding locusts, really didnt want too but if i have to i guess i will???
  13. I have done ALLOT of research on Leopard Geckos and I keep getting confilcting infomation on Diets... Before i get mine i want to make sure im bang on the money for food!!! Many people/keepers/breeders believe that Leopards can be kept on Meal Worms happily, and that they are a great food source. Some say they cant be because their phosphours (speeling) levels are to high causing difficulty in calcium absorbtion. What is your opinion? I would like to feed mine Meal Worms with the occasional montly lot of crickets/locusts due to that meals worms are cheap/easy to obtain/easy to store sadly at the moment I cant breed crickets, I am a uni student who plans on doing really well in my degree and dont have the time needed to sort through bugs. Any ideas on what i could feed that is nice and easy (if there is one) or is there a breeder who can provide a regular source of crickets/locust to me cheaply (most cricket breeders have hungry mouths of their own to feed sadly) Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated.
  14. those are wicked... i saw black leos sell for $3000US so id love to know what these sell for...

    L177

oh no im just giving a word of caution, i have owned a gold nugget before with no hassels. However I have heard people giving caution out due to them being easily stressed.

I have seen them on the supply lists before, some come in from time to time. They are difficult to get through quarantine i have been told... Not only that they are sometimes confused/wrongly labelled. Sometimes L81 are ordered and L18 arrive... If you are getting one make sure you ask to see its belly, if its sunken in dont buy it... They will die due to strees.
  18. turtles can be feed many diets i know, but they are happy on a pellet diet... Also yes meal worms are easy to culture and buy cheaply but i believe they are a good source of food... I have linned up cricket breeders to purchase from to vary their diet... They wont be just on mealworms...
  19. I know it calculates the adult size of fish... But how can it be correct to house 20 Clownloaches in a tank with a common pleco that will grow to around 2ft and 2 sens which get big too??? I dont sea any logic to it?
  20. depending on the filtration, I think its overstocking... Not only that it wouldnt be a big return after you add up all the expense... Tank heating, feeding, time...
  21. Note: Clown Loach may pretend to be dead at times. Recommended temperature range: 24 - 30 C. [Display in Farenheit] Recommended pH range: 6 - 8. Recommended hardness range: 5 - 15 dH. Warning: You NEED to add more aquarium filtration capacity!!! Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 12%. [What's this?] Your tank is too small - it will require massive amount of frequent water changes per week! Your aquarium stocking level is 316%. [Generate Image] [What's this?] Your tank is seriously overstocked. Unless this setup is temporary, you should consider a larger tank. That was for 20? and just the clowns with nothing else running a fluval 404
  22. No well because the only reptiles i own eat a pellet diet... Turtles are nice and easy to feed... But i am speaking of many hours of constant research of keeping Leopard Geckos and other lizards... You dont need to own something to know about them, it pays to own them for experience.
  23. mealworms chewing their way out is a urban legend... i have never seen and threads or pics of this??? also mealworms are a steady diet for most herps.
  24. no? when you consider floor space available 20 would be allot... not only that is the filter up to that bioload? I would say 20 would be way to much and you would be better with a smaller amount...
