It is not completely setup, but is oing to be a heavily planted tank. Thanks for the offer, but if you can point me in the right direction I will head out and purchase some!

yeah, I dont eat weet-bix, only use it for my microworm cultures so it had been in the cupboard for aggggggges and noticed these little grubthings about 1cm long. the angels LOVE them and haven't seen any adverse effects.

I found some little grub thingies in my weet-bix, so fed them to my angels - they loved them! Wonder if you could do something similar with oats?

yeah, the filter came with the coarse wool, would like something finer thought to "polish" the water really not looking forward to buying the eheim stuff, I saw a box in Animates today that would fill perhaps half a basket and it was 80 bucks!!! do you know if it is necessary to have all the baskets full? its overkill for the tank its going in!

Hi all, I purchased a new FX5 earlier in the week and will be getting the media to put in it tomorrow (finally!) I am thinking of getting Ceramic Rings for the 1st basket, eheim biosubstrat stuff for the 2nd and a fine filter floss for the last (Don't know where or what to look for the filter floss) I am just wondering what everybody else uses in their FX5's?

Fluval FX 5 :) forgot to get filter media so can't fire it up yet, do you have any idea how hard it is to have it sitting there and not being able to play with it?

That I will get a canister is a given. I was looking for some advise on which one to go for - definately leaning towards eheim or Fluval, but which model would do the best job but not be overkill, I'm sure an FX5 would be to much filtration!

Thanks, They do look like that, very small. ButI really have no idea how they got into the aquarium, Its been over 4 weeks since I have introduced anything (excluding medicating my fish). There has been more excess food recently though because he eats practically nothing atm.

They are absolutely tiny - I took a couple out yesterday but they were crushed just removing them from the leaf they were on. Are you being serious TheConch? do they have freshwater limpets? If I could see a photo I would kno0w if its them.

Hi All, I'm sorry I cannot provide any pictures, but is it possible to ID this "thing" in my aquarium with the below description? They are slightly larger than a baby snail, look like very small limpets with a clearish white shell. in the centre of the shell is some black/brown stuff, which I think may be the insides of whatever it is.

Was about to say something about this but you beat me to it. These are a big problem in AKL now, they are out competing all the native birds and are very close to rplacing them altogether. Is a Rainbow Lorikeet not a parrot?

ok - about to dose the tank. 1 more question. I have an external canister filter, should this stay on? also - should I leave the lights on/off or anything out of the ordinary?

Yeah, we have 4 babies from the last 3/4 eaten lot that are now about the size of a 20c piece, angels have awesome personalities imho.
