ram chip is the actual stick of memory, dual channel is running two identical sticks of ram (compared to running a 256 and a 512)side by side - sytems perform better this way you are best to buy 2 x512 sticks and just "part with" the original .. if you're going to upgrade you might as well do it right ... and ram is cheap as "chips" these days 512MB 200 Pin DDR PC2100 266MHz SODIMM < is what you are after - not to sure of where to direct you in wangavegas... if you were in welly I'd install ot for you for free hopefully there might be a tech savvy young lad on this site in your area who can do it for a fish or something (once you buy the ram lol)

my boy is about 5-6cm and is colouring up, he is in a 240litre tank with just his 2 girls and 3 much smaller yellows ... seems every day his colour is changing ... will post some pics if he ever stays still long enough (or doesn't give me yet another front on shot) :roll:

i got 25 kilos of aragonite for $45 + $12 shipping from auckland, depends on the look you are going for but I personally like it from hollywood fishfarm, though not using them as couriers - using their supplier ... not sure about what us available in chch

how much are you feeding them? I had that initially, they always (look) hungry .... I now feed my goldfish tank every 2-4 days. They will eat and eat and eat like there is no tomorrow!

as supasi said, I have the lights on my planted tank a fair bit just for the plants, yet my other 2 I hardly have the lights on ... also I would increase the % for changes, I aim for 30% once a week as my tanks both get a lot of natural light throughout the day (I also get green water)

lol I'm terrible with impulse buying, half the furniture in my apartment I bought on the spur of the moment ($9000 worh of rimu furniture)... thankfully when it comes to fish I actually take my time - but anything else I am a salepersons dream :roll:

my neice and I a few weeks ago in Sydney

lolol flatmate is 43 (english lass hence the love of coro st) .. small inner city apartment and I'm not one to hermit away in my bedroom .. we actually joke about it, she is like "Guess what is on tonight!" (I'm all for compromise when flatting so give and take) I just didn't realize until recently how many of these shows there are and how often they run as for the cricket we were ranked 3rd in the world in the one day version last year and had a chance to be second - don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of teamNZ just 4 years in between drinks is a long haul I love almost all NZ sport, just wish there was more of it (and less of the soaps lol)

I lived in aussie for a while and was totally over home and away/neighbours - then saw shortland street and thought "just as bad but with kiwi accents" and now coro st which is really making me dislike the english accent (one I have always been a fan of) anyway bringing this rant to an end ... cheers for that ryan ... the bucket idea sounds perfect - I was surprised to see the ph level so low, guessing it is due to no water changes since I went to oz late last year now the joy of trying to catch these lightning fast lil buggers lol

I'm almost ready to move my lil babies into their new tank and am a little concerned about the ph level - their current tank is sitting around 6.5 whereas the new tank is about 7.5 would that be too much of a jump for them? If so what can I do to either slowly raise the ph level in their existing tank and/or slowly lower it in the new tank. I just added a fairly large piece of wood to the new and I believe that wood does help towards lowering? also is there anything else I should be concerned about? (btw lil babies = 3 electric yellows and 3 red empresses)

I came home to take some pics of mine to find that he has been bullied badly by the tank mates got him in another tank ... hope he pulls through

I'm no expert (but researching cichlids a lot) and it looks like a Cynotilapia afra or "white top" to me
