lol . Personally I haven't owned a Pearl Gourami (yet ) but I have read that their temperament is fine. But they may get a bit aggro when it comes to breeding? I think if you were to buy them you would usually buy them in pairs? but one single male would be fine

Basically if you have a selection of caves and hideouts for the BN's to hide in, they theoretically should breed. Keep us upto date with all your news about the BN's

Yeah, it was either luck or it was the fact that I'm just the man 8) Nah but really... before you try to breed them you have to make sure that they are compatible and like each other and are not squabbling all the time. I know a few people that bought BN's but the pair hated eachother, so yeah it comes down to luck whether they actually want to be or not.

Cool, the more caves the more chance of mating. I bought a male and female and put them in a 10 gallon tank and within 2 weeks they were breeding 8)

Paratya curvirostris are the NZ freshwater shrimp so out of the 2 i'm guessing it's the one you need brackish water to breed in and so it's the harder one? I was wanting some but then I converted my small coldwater tank to tropical after my koura died so never got a chance to keep some

The stuff that was at HFF was called Onyx Sand.. google it and it will come up with what i'm talking about. Just thought you might want to know about it if you don't already

the stuff they had at HFF was some sort of sand/nutrient mix that's effects never wear off. I forget it's name, but the good thing about it was that it could be used as a substrate as well and didn't need to be covered over with normal subsrate. I'm probably gonna get that stuff for my new aquarium (less hassles )
