    130 w pc's

Anyone know if there's somewhere in NZ that might have them? Or a model number or anything like that? I've been thinking I might check with Lamp Specialists to see if they have access to anything similar.

I found my brazilians completely ignored everything else in the tank. Never nipped any fins or anything. Most aggressive they ever got was with snails, doing a nice imitation of an attack helicopter.
  3. Yeah, by chopping them up. They've got about as much brains as your average potato, so do you worry about humanely killing your potatos before peeling them? hehe. I suppose you could freeze them. Might make them easier to chop up too.

Is there anywhere to get PC bulbs in the wellington area? I need an actinic...Not sure what wattage though because I can't seem to find any info on my MH pendant that might tell me what wattage the PC socket is.
  5. My first thought, you're gonna end up losing a lot of people because they can't remember how to spell the address.
  6. Be an interesting way to get big swordtails, if I remember right male swordtails are smaller, aren't they? Grow up a big female in a tank with males then throw her in a tank of just females, swap to male and you've got a freakishly big male. Just like you had, Alan. Just something I thought.
  7. You type too slow, Alan.
  8. oops, it's hygro difformis, not polysperma. Lemme see if I can find a pic somewhere...Ok, here we go.
  9. I have some wisteria( Hygro polysperma) and some "crypt. pontederiifolia" man I wish I knew that stuff's common name. Anyway, you can have a bit if you come pick it up or I can bring some for you to the next club meeting if you remind me?
  10. Yeah, it's pricy but since they're practically impossible to get, seems fair enough to me. If it goes at the current amount it'd be less than $200 each and arowanas, which are a dime a dozen comparitively go for more than that.
  11. I'd love to get some for $1 a piece, I dunno where you're getting them retail for that because the cheapest I've seen them for is about $3.
  12. http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/auction_detail.asp?id=16339338 4 Frontosas. I'd love to get these, but I don't even have enough room for the fish I HAVE let alone 4 more BIG fish. It says they're agressive, I'd thought they were supposed to be really calm?
  13. I'd kill for some cuttlefish. And to be able to support them.
  14. Hmmm, I need some phosphate remover...

    Mudskippers

    Can you get them here?
  16. There aren't really any disadvantages to bracing as long as you're smart, they don't have to be too big so they get in the way. So...Yeah, I agree with Pies.
  17. Yeah, I find that too. No big deal though. I prefer the bloodworms that come in a slab than in cubes, though.
  18. Since the show helped them have about 800 more people than usual, they should let us stay after 10pm next time to finish the auction!

    are there any.....

I think the reason more people aren't doing it is because unless you have something like a big greenhouse in a region with heaps of sunlight on a beach for free water with a nice hot spring for free heating...You're going to be spending $50K on equipment so you can spend $50 on supplies and power growing frags that can only sell for $25. Ok, I'm exaggerating, but anyway, I don't think it's really profitable to do as a business as it is.
  20. For me it's not that I don't know the names or the preparation, it's more I don't want to risk my little guys on stressful conditions on the way to, during and on the way back from the show. But, next year I'll probably take one or two of them.
  21. And don't forget that one of the more common fertilizers is Ammonium Nitrate.
