    diy co2 mix?

i find if you mix up the yeast with a pinch of sugar in a little warm water really well using a fork until you get lots of bubbles and let it sit for 10 mins before you add it to the bottle you seem to get bubbles quicker
  2. I have added a UV filter now and boy the water is sooooooo clear,i always thought it was pretty good before but its even clearer. Its a bit extravagant but Santa gave me as voucher. Once i have got the plants under control I'll post up a photo....

    Angel fish

Ok I'm thinking about adding one to my medium tank it's about 92cm x 40 x 60 high i have 5 clown loaches and two parrot fish in it at the moment, i have another bigger community tank 119cm x56x60 with much smaller fish in but don't really fancy doing a big swap around unless i have tooo. Decisions decisions decisions

    Bloated Clown loach

EKKKKK it must be bloat. Hes not very good, i have him in a container floating in the big tank with an air stone. I squashed a cooked pea and added it. His belly looks like it's going to pop.

    Bloated Clown loach

Phew that was close, the filter wasn't working very well. Looked at the other fish and they all seemed to be breathing faster than normal. Had a play around with the filter not sure what the problem was but its pumping heaps of water back in the tank now... and the fish are all looking better, even the Clown loach is swimmng more normal now!!!!!!!
  18. Hi any help would be appreciated as one of my Clown loaches is bloated and struggling to swim, i was going to put in a container and float it in the tank, but he manged to swim under his cave. His belly is larger than normal looks like he eaten too much !!!!!!!

    Lighting options

Thanks for the advice. I have chopped them and replanted in the other area of the tank which was bare. I think i am still going to see about a submersible light ,I realise it wont help the plants grow but I think it would look good having some more light in the tank. When I get round to it i will take some photos and post up. Took some last night but the glass needed a clean so the pics don't look very good. :bounce:

    Lighting options

Chopping will have to happen ,but i dont want to chop too much, its the first time my plants have taken offfff. I want to try and get some light in the tanks to brighten it up under the forest!!!!
  21. Ummmmm not sure what my options are , my plants have taken off and are now blocking the light from the lights I have sitting on the glass under the hood. I am going to trim the plants, but I guess they will only grow again , I have ambullia and Indian fern and I think temple plant. So it’s good news the plants are finally growing well but now I need to look at getting some more light in the tank. How effective are the submersible lights, I think aqua one make them I don’t need anything that will support plant growth ,just some that will add some light to the tank. Thanks
  22. A discount thast great... :bounce:
  23. Hi i just wanted to say what fantastic customer service there is at Hollywood Fish Farm Mt Roskill. Not only did they have all the parts i needed for my filter but they fitted them, too and checked to see if any other parts needed replacing.
  24. Thanks for all of your help and suggestions, we are going to do a factory restore as nothing we have done so far has solved the problem.
