  1. I just thought they needed a person for it or is that for the trout? And don't go at me saying 'of course it is legal'. How would I know, can't even find them on the net. Chris-
  2. I think it would be a matter of what water conditions they need (ph, kh etc). I would think you could keep them in a tank if it was legal.
  3. You can buy cold water guppies from shops. Though I'm not sure on bringing ones that have been in warm water to cold water. Chris-
  4. How are you supposed to catch fish in that >_<?
  5. I had 2 males and 2 females in a 3ft tank. I had one lot, I gave away 1 male and 1 female which I think was the breeding pair ! Then later on the female died, I got another and they have never bred since ! There babies are so cute. I would love another female.
  6. Damn I want those Wild Heckels and Wild Green! Whats there bodies like? Could maybe get some as my early christmas present if you still have some in.
  7. Thanks a lot guys. Brian - what do you put in the tank to feed them? ok so I will get an internal filter, skimmer, tank.

Hey greg, Goodluck keeping discus. I have 4 myself. Chris-
  9. mm .. I have been thinking about making a DIY skimmer. Brian - what instructions did you follow? How easy was it? Chris-
  10. yes but, why wouldn't a tank (say 3ft) just be run on a filter? caryl did hers like this and it survived for along time aswell as an airbubble thing to keep it oxygenated?
  11. Doesn't seem to be working now !
  12. Hey, Have any of you checked out World of Water's new site? It's really worth having a look at. Has pricing on fish they have in-stock, etc. Would love the Red Snakeskin Discus for $90 but $$$ is a bit low (rockpool aquarium )! www.worldofwater.co.nz Chris-
  13. Yes. Im waiting till tomorrow (gee that's a big wait ) to see if there is anything. I went to Jansen's today and checked out their sand and protein skimmers. Coral Sand = $18 for 4kg, $34.95 for 10kg. Protein Skimmer = Lowest $95.95 = Highest $395.95. Pies, when you said about the skimmer not having a pump, what pump do you need for them? I'm still not sure on the sized tank I need. I thought 4ft but that's gonne be a huge amount of sand that I will need Chris-
  14. Lovely fish Andrew. A lot of colours in them.
  15. Damn I'm still in need of a tank!! someone help me out
  16. hmm, I think I might just go out and buy a cheap one for now. Pitty none of that would be cold water. What type is his sand?
  17. Ive never read discus being 'Adult Size' in '4-5 Months'. Very few are even mature then.
  18. how much is the sand? Pies - All I need is the tank and the equipment then I could get started! I don't know of anyone selling a tank yet ! Gotta wait for the T&E on Thursday . Are you going to try to ring the number and see what he has left? Chris-
  19. Cheers Pies. I got those prices out of the T&E. Heres the phone number: (09)274-4717 Tho I don't know if he has anything left (I haven't rung). At the moment I'm just gonna stick to a rockpool one, and if my parents think it's worthwhile (as in spending that money), I might 'upgrade'. I am interested in the skimmer if he / she still has it and depending on the condition etc. The rock and sand sound like a good price as well. Chris
  20. Are there any good prices in this: Marine Mandarin $50; Emperor Angelfish $200; Coral $50 ea; 2, Eheim Pump, $50 ea; Berlin Protein Skimmer $50; water filter $75; Arcadia, 250W $100; rock & sand $5 per kilo; access frm $5 ea
  21. Wow thanks heaps Pies. I will get a skimmer then. About the filter - do you reckon I wouldn't need one in the tank? Whats some of the cheapest water pump / power heads and the brands that would work with this? oh, about the tank, i'm still stuck on what size to get. bigger, or smaller?
  22. Thanks. I think I will still get coral sand, as if pies is correct, it keeps the bacteria alive. Im not sure about a skimmer though. Would it survive without one like Caryl's did? +, I don't know of anyone selling a fishtank (4ft or so) that is pretty cheap . When I left I could of got a 4ft for $25. Chris-
