  4. My fighters and Rams all get along fine, the Rams shoo the fighters away at spawing time and when they are guarding babies.... this works both ways though.
  5. Well done.... beautiful fish matey!! Good luck with spawing and of course we all expect pix of the babes.
  6. When I had an extra male in with my breeding pair that's exactly what my males did most of the time, infact did that before I introduced a female.
  7. Think we would die if the clinic didn't have it!!!
  8. Cheers Kris!! Liked the look of your tanks and decided to try some fancy substrate! Oh by the way, the little boy fighter is doing well and almost has a yellow crown female as his girlfriend..... cross fingers they spawn!!!
  9. I have several small size clay rocks from a stream on our farm down south and was wanting to use them in an up and coming tank, they were once solid but now, since drying, are starting to crumble. Which is the best use and how does clay affect pH and other water parameters?? Best to leave it as a solid rock or mash it up and using it as a base substrate but then read that clay makes a "unsuitable" substrate so am very unsure as how to best work with the medium. Have not yet found any details on clay and pH. All helpful advise on the matter would be great. Cheers.
  10. As mentioned I also live in Te Atatu South. I have been at my house for 2years and never a worry.... touch wood. We live in a quiet street and get few worries. SOme of the homes are quite close and everyone watches out for one another, kind of an unspoken thing we do. Great being off a main street and at least I know my cats are bit more safe from the roads and nomad dogs and other misfits!!! Welcome to Westsyde!!
  11. Breeding pair of blue rams. Breeding pair of Keyholes.
  12. If only I could find them?? They are in a fully planted tank and only just hatched......time shall tell!
  13. I have this sword growing in all my tanks. PM if you still want some. Cheers.
  14. Great to hear Tania!!!! Eggs have hatched and saw few babes swimming round can not confirm numbers yet, cross fingers!!! The snails moved in for some reason, never seen them do that with fighter eggs before. Meanwhile, in the tank nextdoor the yellow daddy is guarding his new babes....
  15. Thanks man, should have newly hatched babes this time tomorrow.
  16. Sad news.... got home from dinner and the white guy is dead, got himself wedged. Good news is that he and the gurls mated so touch wood that they hatch ok.
  17. I think having more convicts will help......hehehe
