Got camera happy and thought to share my breeding rams and their babies. Again, forgot to clean the tanks exterior before snapping pictures of the parental units :oops: . Father. Mother. Babies.

Sure is adodge..... will try tonight for a photo, sun is beaming in and causing too much reflection and battery just died!!!! Stay posted.

Was asked last week for an update so here it is....... yellows at 6 weeks old (tomorrow). Note the mothers green tinge is more obvious and an egg spot!!!

Finally did it!!!! Moved my keyholes into my 4 foot tank and they seem to be enjoying it..... hidding at the moment but in time they will settle in and hopefully breed again.... no Rams to bother them. Curretly living with 3 cories and my old male figther.

Last year I had to try and locate a Tortoise for someone.... after a few days of dodgy calls and random emails I managed to find a Pet Store out South that was "connected" to a breeder, only to be told that I had no business looking for one and that the breeder would not want to talk to me as they apparently only delt with that certain pet store. I must have stirred up a real hornets nest as she slammed the phone down, not the customer service one would expect. After that ordeal and chatting to other soruces, it does appear there is a secret organisation of "underground" Tortoise breeders....don't blame them I suppose knowing how much they are worth and such.

Nah too hard to see, the 2nd pix could be a male based on his general size? Sounds like you have a pair.... time will tell.

Yip sounds like a male and female to me.... any chance of a quick snap shot??

Male cichlids are generally bigger and have a tappering dorsal fin, some species have bumps on their head... not sure if this is true for Keyholes.... my male is just huge compared to his lady so is obvious.

How has the breeding going with yours??

They are in with Rams, fighters, cories, kuli loaches and otos....both the male and female have been bossing the rams around. I thinking of moving the rams out so that both parties can spawn in peace. Cheers.

Indian fern can look ok if floated as it's throws down some ncie roots.... Hyrdocottle also looks nice floating...... the banana plant with the massive leaves is also great.

Do we not have a restricten on the number of cats someone can own in?

Indeed so Mark but sometimes it's like p*****g in the wind.

I use Flourish Excell ... has been giving the cyno in my 4 footer a "jolly good run for it's money", as odd as this maybe. Haven't plucked up courage to ask the vets for some abs, though not to keen on using it. Have those JB Ball things also, which apparently work will with swords.... so have tired this on my sword. Not overly excited with the results.

Maybe keeping cats inside at night is a good thing, though inconvenient to some, might save those poor cats that get malled/killed by roaming dog(s) among other things. On that note, should not dog owners do the same thing? Might limited dog related attacks and very large vet bills.

Awwww very good, I use microworms and liq fry sol too. Just looking for something bit more to alt my the feeding for when they get bit bigger. Cheers.

Tru? Does feeding them directly work for fry as well or just the adults?

Has anyone here, other than Blue and Kim, used these? Looking at getting some and would be keen to hear what others think? Cheers.

Me!!!!

Both are crown, though I think the female is half? And father has a longer tail but crowning still. Photos of them are above in earlier discussions.

Totally, I thought I could see some crowing in the tail of fish in the 3rd photo? Look like one is going to have the a similar green sheen that there mother does. A few more weeks and we should get to see some tail development!!

Been few weeks so decided to give an update.... here are some of the bigger babies as of today, have about 5 this size now. 4 weeks of age this Sunday.
