I have had previous adult fighters that had theirs eye pecked out and it died within minutes.... these 2 fry by all accounts were born with one eye, noticed a few days after hatching, yeah I have good eyesight!!!

Oh yes, good point. As in no socket, just flesh over where the eye socket/eye should be.... guess is genetic then? Cheers.

Recently discovered 2 of 10 c/t babies have one eye. The affected fry are slightly smaller but fit and healthy otherwise, eatting well and growing quickly. The other fry are fine and have 2 eyes. Does anyone know why this is likely to occur? I originally thought that it was prehaps some sort of injury during hatching or maybe a genetic issue? Your thoughts please

It's time for another update, so here are the babies at 9weeks old. Still unsure of sex but this little one has longer fins, perhaps a male?

Uuuummmmm maybe..... both Gabes yellow and my original yellow are from Hollywoods. My second yellow male was from Henderson Jansens/Animates, he breed with the yellow female... the offspring in the photos.

Can try your luck, pretty sure I got 2 males and female, bit too early for them to be pairing and mating I would have thought?

Too earlybut.... of the 3 fish, 2 are obviously bigger and have been chasing each other around the tank, bit too early to confirm but would guess that they are males.

The males are generally bigger, like most cichlids. The males also have an extension of their doral fin and tail fins, well in mine they do
