  1. That looks amazing! I think it could be mandatory. LA I think you probably have a better imagination than I do, maybe you and matt can coordinate and make the two pieces look similar Im gonna owe a lot of baking by the end of this!
  2. Exactly what I was thinking of do you have enough left?
  3. Is it possible to breed flies? For frogs, not lizards... I have mealworms already so thats a bonus Im torn between the bluey and beardie, they are so neat in different ways! The perils of dating a reptile nut I suppose lol. Still think I might keep frogs as well, if I cant get exotic ones I think Id like whistling trees, mainly because they climb... What kind of cost is involved in setting up a reptile enclosure? I work full time and have cats if that makes a difference to the enclosure
  4. I may be able to get a rock wall for the back, will have to do some schmoozing first hehe. I already have one ctenopoma in my smaller tank so he is definitely going in. I like the look of the african suckermouth cat, will see if they are available through work a couple of the other species mentioned look really cool but probably not for me, one is a plant eater, definitely want the tank well planted.
  5. Oh wow thanks henward thats less than I thought. Might have to investigate further
  6. There ya go, get cracking then Maybe I will have to look into the congo tetras, see if I can get them through work... Will definitely be adding java fern, anubias, congo fern if I can find it, and lotus. Any thoughts on the poly eating kribs once its bigger? Also are there suckermouth fish from the congo? I have 2 large male bristlenoses and enjoy my tank being algae free
  7. Some awesome ideas forgot to add, there will be a standpipe for the sump overflow in the middle of the tank, apparently Im getting something made out of poly to hide it, need to talk sweetly to some people. Was thinking rocks or driftwood look for the poly Not so keen on the congo tetras, elephant nose is a bit out of my price range... The barbs I have already are over an inch, the kribs range in size
  8. Thinking of trying to replicate the congo in my 4ft x 3ft x 2ft tank. Im wanting to plant it, substrate is daltons and sand. Lighting is 2 double t8 light hoods. Got a fair abount of driftwood to go in there, fish so far are a ctenopoma (sp?), kribensis and barbs. Would really like polypterus senegalus if possible. Any ideas on other fish and plants for this??
  9. I went over the bonnet of a car. Was cycling and it pulled out of a driveway in front of me, I hit it pretty hard and went up and over. Bike was munted but all I got was a purple leg and some scrapes
  10. Conditioner doesnt usually affect pH levels... How big a water change did you do? What is the pH level at now, and what was it before? The problem with using pH adjusting chemicals is they can cause the pH to swing quickly, which is more dangerous than having a pH thats slightly out.
  11. We have had a lot of people at the shop asking about koi over the last week, I thought it was odd
  12. We have a 25cm bgk and a 30cm ornate living together with no worries. Keep the bichir well fed and trouble should be minimal
  13. Are they the ones with the poisonous barb? Very cool
  14. True, we did and it looks amazing! Neighbours kids have already had a play in it, fish love the plants and its looking very wild indeed thank you so much!
  15. Blame the bogan hehe. Will quite possibly have to come along next time
  16. Wow nice! Kinda wishing we had gone with you now...
  17. Its more the cost of heating and lighting that is prohibitive for me
  18. Aww! Looks like its gonna have to be the bells. Maybe I should suck it up and get a blue tongue after all lol
  19. The albino ones sound cool, any idea where to get them? The enclosure I am looking at is about a 2ft cube, too small for 2?
  20. What is available (legally) in the way of frogs in nz? I want a skink but cant afford one, so am settling for frogs lol. The green/gold bells dont really do anything for me, what else is available? What kind of space do they require and do they need heating or uv lighting? Also, can frogs in general be conditioned to accept prepared food or do they all require live foods?
  21. Awesome! Sooo looking forward to reading it stella! Definitely putting it on my wishlist
  22. Looking good! Fingers crossed they grow up big and strong
