  2. old tank has a overhead filter and new tank has cf1000. How would i hook that up to my overhead tank??
  3. because it would proberbly suck my old tank dry! ha ha . I know i should have but have been concenrating on getting the new tank how i want it with plant's ect. Am planning on transfering some of the filter media over too
  4. Have just got my new tank ready for fish (finally!) and am wondering which fish (of the one's fom my smaller tank) would be best to use, and in what order?? Tank is 80x40x60, external filter, planted and has been running for approx 4 week's. Fish are as follow's: 5x neon's 5x rummy nose 2x platty's 2x bolivian ram's 2x bristle nose 1x cory
  5. Have just planted my new 175L tank yesterday and want advise on how to get them started. Plant's are as follow's: 2x Sub Cryptocoryne 1x Dwarf Saggitaria 2x Blue Hygrophilia 1x Red hygrophilia 1x Anubias Nana 1x Java fern 3x Amozon sword 3x Twisted vall 3x Rotala Roundafolia I have approx 30mm layer of sand over top of a approx 30mm layer of JBL Aqua Basis. Cleaned plant's thoroughly before planting and were all very nice and healthy looking. Fed with JBL Ferropol last night also. All are looking ok although the crypt's are looking a little droopy. Was just wondering if there's anything else I should be doing??

    Filter trouble

I've just had the same problem with my new set up, and have JUST got the water clear. It's a new set up and suspect I did'nt clean the noodle's good enough plus was a bit of the aqua basis floating around. As the tank is bare (apart from gravel) at the moment I just used some water clarifier (took a few dose's) and put more filter wool in. I also have a cf1000 btw.
  7. White bit make's sense to me. Other wise you'll be changing the colour your ment to be comparing against?

  9. woop's, did'nt mean to start all this!??
  10. Not sure if it's related to the type of bulb's you guy's are talking about but i saw breifly on target last night that "energy saver" bulb's CAN be quiet nasty if they break and something get's out??? Anybody else see that and can clarify??
  11. has anyone used JBL aqua basis??
  12. even though it's only been set up for 48 hour's?? 50% change and see wot happen's?? :-?
  13. yeah was thinking of later on down the track a bit when the tank is mature. Just want idea's on tank mate's
  14. i'm trying to get a long term plan together for my new tank and am wanting to eventually have a few discus. Just wanting to know what fish are compatable so i can start stocking up with fish that are going to be suitable long term? Also what type of planting??
  15. i purchased a regal 80 smidey, not a AR80? Any idea's on my "mist" problem??
  16. just been looking on some previous post's. could this mist looking stuff be from the noodle's?? Must confess, they did'nt get the BEST wash before they went in!!? If so, how do i clear it up?
  17. are you guy's saying to put some filter wool directly around the filter intake?? could'nt i just put some below my spray bar on a aqua one 380??
  18. yeah mine is only on a 34l tank so another filter is not really a option? Just want to try and sort it before the fish are moved to my new 175l tank 8) . Would'nt mind finding the cause so i know how to treat it or what to do if there's a next time?
  19. I washed it through a collinder thing because i wanted quite coarse sand and only small amount's at a time? Thort it might have been enough? It's been about 48 hour's now, how long can it take for thing's to settle down?? Also, can you cycle a tank for TOO long?? As in before you put any fish in?? I just want to take my time and get this tank set up properly before any fish go in??
  20. will give that a go. thank's for ya help, will keep you all posted
  21. none at all really? the ph is moving around a bit but nothing too major? Plant's are gowing fine too? Sort of thing that will sort it's self out? been doing 15% water change's every couple of day's too

    fish coffins

I thought i was being nice using 3 ply!
  23. The tank has been running for about 10 month's? No tannin's appeared to have leaked while i was soaking it and was ok in the tank for about a week then the water started going a bit green. Was about the same time i switched from fake to real plant's too? Think i may have other problem's though and it's all just a coincedence?? Any idea's on what else can cause this??
  24. Yeah i thought so too Afrikan! Stoked! Just seem to be having a problem with "mist" looking stuff in the water?? I know thing's will take a while to settle down but Have laid a bed of approx 3cm JBL aqua basis, then approx 3cm sand substrate. Could it be the Aqua basis leaching through or have i got other issue's?? Have had water in and filter running for about 24 hour's now and it still just look's misty/cloudy in the tank?
