  2. I'm planning on upgrading my light's soon, but as a tempory fix for my not so happy plant's, would leaving my existing light's on for longer help them??
  3. Think I may need some help? My pair of Platty's are acting weird with the male chasing the female around like crazy, weird colour poo hanging out of the female and THINK I may have seen the male eating fry when I got home from work?? Not 100% sure about that though? Is this typical behaviour for spawning Platty's?? She has been rather large lately? If so what should I do to try and save the fry if there is any? I can put the male in another tank if this would help.
  4. What is the best way to trim Ambulia?? Is there any way you can keep it trimmed but keep the top's (the puffy part?? if you get what I mean??!) Just dont like how they sprout out new shoot's next tho where you've cut. I have read of some people using weight's to keep te plant's down, and cutting from the bottom when needed, but I dont really think this will wor in my situation?? Any idea's???
  5. I had similar problem when I set up my tank with a aqua one cf1000. Pretty sure the problem was I did'nt wash the ceramic noodle's good enough? Allthough my water STILL is'nt as clear as I'd like it, but I think that's due to my sand substrate and JBL aqua basis still settling down??
  6. My bolivian's colour's change quiet a bit depending on there "mood" ie; when feeding, turning on light's, hand's in the tank ect, and also often see their mouth's moving (not "gasping" though?). Allthough the swimming "nose down" sound's strange?? maybe someone else could help??
  7. What about the test kit and aqua basis?? Hopefully it will become a regular thing! 8)
  8. As *Luke said, the wattage of the light determines how much light you will get, the Kelvin Temperature determines the colour of the light. You pretty much answered what I was trying to ask?! Ha ha I do get ok light at the bottom and plant's are growing well, nut just dont get that "brightness" I'm looking for. I'll have a play around with some different type's of bulb's I think?!
  9. Who won the raffle's??? :-?
  10. I have a 70cm high tank and am struggling to get light to the bottom and it kinda looks a bit shadowy down there? Any idea's for bulb's?? I've got a 10000k 20w and a 18000k 20w (T8's) at the moment. Tank is planted but I dont know a great deal about bulb's?
  11. proberbly way off, but how would discus go with that mix minus the angels??
  12. yeah SOMEBODY must want him?! I'd have to put a vote in for the whack on the head treatment too! Know I would'nt want to be frozen!

  17. ah ha! something I'd never really thort about and then when I did I got all confused!  Cheer's
  18. I am a little confused?! When using water conditioner, the instruction's say to add "x" amount of conditioner to "x" amount of tank water. I.e; Add 5ml per 38L of tank water. My question is, do you work out how much conditioner you need by the overall tank volume or the amount of water being changed?? :-?
  19. looking to upgrade the lighting in my tank as it dosnt appear to be pennetrating to the bottom? tank is 80wX40dX70h. Lighting is aqua one AL20d (2x25w 24'bulb's). Dont want to spend a whole heap as I'm saving for my holiday, but what would be my best option for around the $150 mark?? upgrade bulb's?? Extra light unit??
  20. How close are those light's to the polystyrene??
  21. very nice shot's! love the discus pic too! Tank look's awsome too! 8)
