  1. Sorry about the crappy pics, but it's all I could manage...
  2. I actually think the tank should be left as is, because IMO a black backround is to much of a contrast with the pale substrate. The whie backround from the wall will give it an ADA sort of look
  3. My parents aren't awesome, just parent - Mum Dad and I don't get on, and he works in Nelson during the week anyway so I don't really see him much anyway. Also mum said that she wouldn't acclimitize the fish for me if I wasn't around to do it because she doesn't know how to do it, and doesn't want to be involved with my hobby because it is not of her interest. Plus the fish were $180 so if any died that would be $45 per fish dead wasted. So I had to stay home whether I wanted to or not
  4. Nice angels I used to have a golden angel in a 2ft tank but it got too big so I gave it away. I really miss it, but it would be cruel to keep it in that small tank.
  5. Or I could always just sell the bristlenoses. Or put them in a net breeder. Do you think a pair of small bristlenoses would be all right in a net breeder for a week or so?
  6. There's lots of pots in there for them, and a nice huge bit of bogwood covered in Windelov and Xmas moss. Do you think they'll breed all right with the two golden bristlenoses that are in the tank? Or would the bristlenoses just eat the eggs at night while the fish are 'sleeping'?
  7. Yay mine arrived today I am a wee bit disappointed with them, because comapred to danval's fish mine aren't that nice. But they're still only little and I've only just got them so hopefully later down the track they'll look something like danval's ones. Even if they don't turn out to be very nice fish, they might breed ones that look much nicer than danval's 8) The tail on the male is quite rounded, instead of being squared at the edges, so I don't think he will end up with the lovely tail filaments. But he has a nice dorsal fin. I have one definate male, two definate females (I'm pretty sure anyway), and one that may be a male or a female, but looks like it might be a female.
  8. Just heard that there was another huge earthquake :tears: How is everyone and their fishies in Christchurch?
  9. I thought peacock moss was illegal? So why are you stating this on the forums? Or is it legal now? :happy2:
  10. You know you're addicted to fish when you are given the day off school to wait for your Apistogramma macmasteri to arrive
  11. Awesome I hope it does well for you
  12. Because I can't get my breeding tank yet, I'm just going to put my fish in the community tank and see how they do... They'll be competing against two bristlenoses and a lot of hungry tetras and rasboras. I don't think I'll have much success By the way my fish are arriving today :bounce:
  13. Jeeze Shophia I was only kidding That will save money on fertilisers I suppose you don't really need to buy extra ferts in low-tech tanks. Just stock it with lots of fishies
  14. Not exactly; I don't want it if it's just going to die, so that's why fordaybro should trial it in his tank before he goes out of his way to ship it to people 8)
  15. Remove the fishies!!!!! This lot HAVE to survive
  16. Nah I'll never be as good as you at aquascaping. I can only do farm tanks, and that's all I am practicaly capable of creating; my imagination doen't stretch very far, and it always seems to fail me when I need it :-? You obviously won't be caring for the tank properly if you're going to let that happen to the substrate 8) And it still won't look as good as a proper dark substrate
  17. Wow I think that is a fantastic effort Sam Much better than anything I could ever do. I love the layout of the plants - I can just imagin it when it's filled in a bit more. The Sag and Crypts look great around that bit of bogwood. The stand looks great Everything looks so tidy - I'm jelous  I do however think you should have gone for a darker substrate, and maybe put some topsoil and Dalton's Aquatic Mix, or JBL AquaBasis, underneath. Needs some red plants :bounce:
  18. If it was I don't think he'd be posting pics on the forums of it...
  19. Ewww I can't stand shrooms  They have an aweful slimy texture when they're in your mouth  Mmmm but I love potato fritter thingies !drool: We made them at primary school once Broccoli's great too !drool:
  20. I've had java that's done really well before, but one time I had heaps of trouble with it rotting and not growing back at all. So you're not the the only one 8)
  21. Mmmmmm just finnished dinner !drool: !drool: !drool:
