  1. Thanks Nav but I'll be OK, I should be getting my new tank soon and I have the filter and light, just need sand, indian almond leaves, some wood, a rainwater collecting system and a heater (I have a brand new Jager 300w but that is only for emergencies).
  2. Wow this tank is turning out to be really nice! The plants seem to be growing quite quickly. I love the little ember tetras
  3. Wow beautiful fish Ryan !drool: My favourites would have to be the brown haps and the taiwan reef
  4. I've just read Pet Sematary by Stephen King. Creepy...
  5. Have you got yourself any trifasciata? AquaWorld is having a half-price sale, and their tri's are $35 each, so you could get two pairs for $70
  6. They spawned again, without me knowing, because when I looked in the tank yesterday I was delighted to see that the female had a small cloud of fry around her. I caught as many as possible and put them in the net breeder. I checked on them later on and there were none in there. They must have squeezed through the netting and got eaten by the other fish
  7. Wow that is an excellent setup !drool:
  8. Wow I am really loving this little tank! To get the yeasty water out of your diffuser, disconnect it and shake the water round the glass tube and shake it out. What you could do to prevent this happening is to make a couple of holes in a coke bottle lid (attach this to a mini pump bottle) and stick a bit of tube in each hole so if any yeast foam or water escapes it will go into the pump bottle so it won't get into your diffuser and tank at all.

    The What's Up? thread.

I've been off school today because I am sick again :an!gry For some annoying reason I keep catching colds. This happens every year around winter/spring.
  10. Get a pair of Apistos. They'd be ideal for a 64L tank
  11. Thanks That sized tank will be very convenient for such small cichlids. I already have that Xinyou sponge filter so I'll just need the light and heater for the tank I'll probably pick it up on the weekend so I'll call you then.
  12. Awesome thanks for that. Does praziquantel have a use-by date? I also saw some others mentioned - Levamisol Hcl and Metro. What do these do and how long do they last for?
  13. Hey guys, Just wondering what sort of medications are good to have for emergencies. I have Apistogrammas, tetras and rasboras. I also have a lot of plants in my tank so if I needed to use something that was blue the fish would have to be removed into a seperate tank for treatment. I was thinking of getting some Furan-2. What other things are good and effective, and will I need different stuff to treat different diseases? Thanks, Joe
  14. You guys are making me nervous... BTW my net breeder that has my other male in it fell down (the suction cups are crap - what a waste of $13.50 buying it) and so he escaped and he is swimming around, but the other one isn't bothering him too much and there's plenty of places for him to hide and he seems OK. I'll keep my eye on the two males though. Caryl I might actually take you up on that offer for the spare tank and I might get some Furan-2 from the shop so if anything happens I will immediately be able to remove the fish and treat them. I couldn't bare to lose these guys after waiting a year to get them again after I lost my last ones.
  15. Wow I really love those chromis! And that metal halide is pretty flash. Wasn't that the one that was on TradeMe recently because I saw one like that on there.
  16. I'm pretty sure it's an anchor worm after googling it. The treatment is 2mg of Potassium permanganate per liter of water, so I've notified my friend and he's going to go and get some
  17. Thanks Caryl, although there are only about 5 eggs left so it wouldn't be worth raising those if they hatched. This is exactly what happened with the macmasteri - they would lay a large amount of eggs which would dissapear over a couple of days. I think it is because the water is too hard and has a high pH. I'll try again when I get my breeding tank and some Indian almond leaves.
  18. Oh no, that's a shame I will do my best. I suppose I could pop down to the shop and buy another net breeder, there goes another $13.50 but it will be worth it for the fry.
  19. If I was in your shoes this situation would really wind me up. Lotsa Luv, a big fan.
  20. Hi all, My friend's goldfish has something on it's dorsal fin, and I don't know what it is. What is it, and what medication/treatment does it require to cure it?
