They're the TopFlite mixes which are supposed to be really good quality. The seed mixes that I used to buy from Bin Inn were heat-treated which I was told wasn't as good for birds as TopFlite which are supposedly non heat-treated. A lot of good breeders use TopFlite. Anyway the Bin Inn ones sprouted really well. Do you think it might be wise to switch back to them?

+1. I hate pigeons with a vengance! Blenheim is infested with them, and even worse, my dad wastes a lot of his pay on medication and food for his pigeons rather than spending it on food for the family or better quality food for the cats. I've tried to convince him that they're just smelly repulsive creatures and that he should get rid of them but he won't listen :an!gry Also the native birds are OK, the ones that tend to carry a lot of diseases are the ones that are really messy and have messy habits like pigeons, starlings and all that stuff.
  8. Hello and welcome to the forums  That is very cool - being able to have part of your aquarium hobby and your work

The sprouts contain lots of different essential nutrients apparently, which is good for the birds. So far it is a failure though - nothing has happened at all. Why would you want to feed wild birds? They get by OK as it is and they contain lots of diseases so feeding them and providing them with extra nurtients so they will be healthier and produce more offspring that will spread more diseases isn't really the best idea. Just my opinion though. But yes you can put seed in a jar with water, only it needs to be taken out after about 12hrs and then put in a sieve propped up on a bowl and you have to rinse it several times a day or the sprouting seeds will get mouldy. It seems a lot of work just to produce a few sprouts You can get sprout-o-matic things, that rinse/mist the sprouts automatically every now and then, but they're quite expensive and I'm not sure where you'd get them from.
  10. Tank: Windelov: Willisii: Emperors: Trigonopomas: Macmasteri: I still haven't got round to getting new tubes. The Hagen ones are too expensive, and I hate Aqua One tubes. I think I'll get the shop to order me in a Philips Aquarelle and a Philips ADV850 Advantage, because a lot of people overseas seem to have a lot of success with those tubes and they're realitivly cheap.

Just think of all the chain loaches you could put in it 8) ..... I'm sprouting seeds for my birds today I have the day off school because I'm not feeling well. I had last Friday off, and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday off too.
  12. I'm not complaining about the price because it is good, I just feel really stink that I lost my pair that I paid $48 for and that if I'm to get anymore they're $42 each which would mean putting my nano project on hold but I just really want some Tri's. I want every Apisto I see lol
  13. I paid $48 for my original pair (not per fish) that I got from Redwoods, although as many know I sadly lost them which really sucks. And now they're more expensive.

Well she didn't really enjoy it. She hated it when I put her in the carry-cage. Although it was funny when the vet picked her up by the scruff and put her on the scales to weigh her. She [sooty] had the most hilarious look on her face :sml1: I've finally figured out a topic for my speech for English - "Appendixes and other useless bodyparts" Someone is doing theirs on "The Lack of Protection for Albino Monkeys", and this other guy is doing his on "How to lead a succsessful life on roonscape"

Grrr I hate dial up with a vengance. Lately over the last couple of weeks it has become enven worse, and it takes around 10 minutes or so just to go to another page on the forums and sometimes it doesn't even load. I am really excited though because we are getting a new computer with broad band :happy2: Last night I made the most coolest and delicious salad. It had all sorts of various thing and I also made my own salad dressing because we had none left. It's very easy - a bit of vinegar, some dried mixed herbs and some olive oil. I then just put it in a jar and shook it until it was mixed properly

Their filter material is incredible cheap. It's only the CO2 stuff, some of the tanks, aquascaping tools, the filters, and glass filter pipes that are a rip off. Their ferts, lighting and filter material and a few other things are really well priced. 1L of ADA Bio Rio costs only $11.85 NZD plus shipping, vs 500g of Eheim Ehfisubstrat Pro from the local petshop for $50.00

Woah that riccia looks awesome! I used to have heaps like that too but I got rid of it because it blocked off too much light for my other plants. I got my nano filter today. It's an Eheim Classic 2211. It didn't come with the twin taps so I'll need to get those, and I will also try and get some ADA filter media for it too
  24. Eww goldfish in a tank  How boring   They only look good in ponds.
