    Wow excellent work Dan :happy2:
  2. Sophia you would love Licorice Gouramis. They're so small and cute but have all the personality of an Apisto  Look at his little eye
  3. I'm sure we've all done that before :slfg:
  4. I think the piece of wood is rotting in the trifasciata breeding tank, because strange fluffy stuff (not algae, more like fungus) is deveoping all over it and the water has a really bad smell. The fish don't appear to be affected. I'm still worried though. I'm thinking of keeping up the water changes until the eggs hatch and the fry are free-swimming, and then replacing the piece of wood with another piece that I bought from Redwood Aquatics (which I might chop into two smaller pieces). Also theres around 30 or so trifasciata eggs. Here's the wood: And here's another photo of Mr. Trifasciata because he is so awesome
  5. I really regret not buying the three Apistogramma pertensis I saw at Organism. I'm pretty sure that there was a definite male and a definite female and they would have been a cool little fish to have.

Awesome work Dan What a wonderful surprise that must have been for you
  9. I've had no need to set up the brine shrimp hatchery because I have no fry to feed the shrimp to
  10. What fish do you regret purchasing or selling, or fish that you wish you had bought but instead decided to leave them at the shop? I really regret selling my Orange Flash cockatoos. They were very peaceful and had lovely personalities and their colouration was really nice :tears: And they hadn't even grown much when I took them back to the shop. The biggest was only about 5cm including the tail. Here's a photo of him: I also regret not buying some Sundadanio axelrodi when they were imported, and by the time I convinced myself of how much I wanted them they had all sold in the shops And I kind of regret buying the Super Red cockatoo - he's really cool, and I'd love to buy a female and breed them, but he's the most aggressive fish I've ever owned and continuously harasses my female trifasciata and the Licorice Gouramis, so I have put him back in the net breeder. In one of my breeding tanks I have a pair of Apistogramma trifasciata, and I'm going to put my Green Neons in the other one. So I don't really have anywhere else to put him. I think I'll move the couch out of my room, put my bed where the couch is, and then I will have room for a couple more tanks
  11. Thanks guys They spawned all the time and I got lots of fry when they were in the 140L (but the fry got eaten by the other fish). I'm just amazed that they've spawned so soon after being moved into the new tank

I have two males and three females.
  15. You can't get them year-round like blackworms, and if you tried to culture them indoors you'd end up with a whole lot of mosquitos buzzing around Also from my experience my fish prefer blackworms to mosquitoes anyway

Yay I got a photo :happy2: Sorry about the rubbish quality though
  17. Blackworms are much easier than mosquitos IMO. I've never tried infusoria but I imagine that would be easy too. I haven't had any really tiny fry so I've had no need for it. Exactly

My Licorice Gouramis have coloured up and I'm pretty sure that they're Parosphromenus bintan  Also I figured out how to sex them; when they spread their fins the tips of the females dorsal fins are rounded and they are pointy on the males. The females also don't have as much blue.
  20. Hahaha never thought of that
