Oh my goodness I just saw the most AMAZING super red Apistogramma cacatuoides at the local shop here. The colours were incredibly intense and it had orange on both pectoral fins. It is $62.00. !drool: !drool: :happy1: I had to convince myself not to get it since I need buckets 'n stuff for the peat filter for the licorice gouramis.

Nooooo don't get cherry barbs! They're so common and boring! You should get something really cool and/or unusual :thup: IMO a pair of German blue rams would look awesome. And then maybe one or two species of rare/unusual tetras or rasboras Or, just get loads of male guppies of all different colours and lots of plants. That would look awesome And you could still chuck in a pair of German blue rams because they'd look cool with guppies.

Just got an email from John and he has some licorice gouramis for $25.00 each. I'm thinking of getting about 4-6.

I would definitely be interested in them if you bred some :bounce: Breeding is similar to Apistos I think, except they aren't cave spawners and will spawn on flat rocks and other surfaces

Are they at Hollywoods? I'd really love to buy them, but I also saw Sundadanio axelrodi are on their stocklist again and I really badly want those! And even though I currently have $200.00, I still need stainless steel mesh (which is pretty expensive) for the breeding traps, large buckets for a peat filter and a couple of other bits so I am not sure if it is a wise idea to buy more fish, because those neons might be too old to breed, if they're not already too old... The gouramis would be much easier to breed than the neons though. On second thought, buckets are cheap so I suppose I could get the peat filter set up, because I won't need to bother with a breeding trap for the gouramis so that will be a major expense I won't have to bother with. And since I've got three tanks now, I have plenty of room to breed mini fish so when I can afford the breeding traps I'll be able to breed the neons in another tank I'll email John and see if he's getting some gouramis in :bounce: :thup:

Those are pretty rare in NZ. I've never heard of them being in the country before, but they are on the allowed list. You should buy it :happy1:

Did a 50% waterchange on the 140L, cleaned the front panel of glass and vaccumed the gravel. I also cleaned the blackworm tank too :thup:

Is there going to be a glass lid between the plastic lid and the tank so the water doesn't get on the tubes?

I think that is their actual colour. I'm pretty sure I have seen some in a shop before that were quite yellow. I assume the colours improve with good feeding and conditions

I've been trying to sell them for months but I haven't had any luck. For some reason I decided to put the prices up and them these people were interested and bought the whole lot of them all in one go Yes, the money is going straight towards the aquariums! I need a peat filter, stainless steel mesh and acrylic for the breeding traps, a new 6 outlet powerboard with individual switches and a couple of other things. Only $200.00 so I'm not rich unfortunately If they had wanted to buy the aviary then I would have been though!
