    re resea max

Mine fits fine - although it had me guessing initially too. Plug all the plugs into the correct sockets (the cables are different lengths, so follow the markings), then gently 'fold' all of the cables towards the bottom. Put the splash cover over the cables, making sure they exit through the square opening at the bottom. Position the cover so that it is against the plug block, but about a centremetre above the top of the plug block looking from the side. Apply a gentle pressure and slide the cover down. It should click into place. You may have to have a couple of goes at this, making sure you don't snag a cable.
  2. The fish or the partner? So long as he's able to look after it properly, why not?
  3. So long as it is robust, and the bags can't slosh around, it should be OK. Scrunch up newspaper etc to keep the bags together and in the centre of the carton.
  4. I find it curious that you are not prepared to meet the same quantum of evidence as you demand from me. Where is the evidence that JBL don't recommend Tabis? I experienced no problems at all when I used them. If you look around this website a little more you will find plenty of evidence of things I have bred, so to suggest that I'm claiming this 'for my ego' doesn't make any sense at all, especially given that this started when YOU pasted a comment I made in another thread over here so you could take issue with it. Incidentally mine didn't die of bloat. The last lot got to 3 months before I pulled down the tank, sold off the adults, and used the fry as feeder fish to make room for another project. I guess it must bum you out that an 'idiot' bred them before you did, especially by accident, and so far South as well. I think its pretty obvious who really looks like the idiot
  5. Don't go and pack a sad now - if breeding plecs is what you are into, then go for it - but it doesn't interest me at all. But just to clarify, the spawns which I fed Tabis to did better, not worse - hence my advice to give it to them. In any event, I suspect you are really upset because maybe you weren't the first person in New Zealand to get them to this stage. Big deal. Get over it an enjoy your achievement anyway.
  6. Like I said, nothing to get into a lather about
  7. Tiger Lotus once its grown its floating leaves?
  8. Naa-naaa na-na-naaa. Told you so
  9. I've got nothing to gain, but maybe they have something to lose (dented ego perhaps??) - some people take this kind of thing a little more seriously than myself. Either way, it is an arguement not worth having.
  10. If you read the earlier posts, you will see that I sold them some time ago (to Mike, your Christchurch based Pleco-God - you can check with him where they are at now). I didn't take photos because I'm afraid I really didn't rate the event as that memorable - breeding freshwater fish (other than a few Discus) doesn't really excite me that much and all my catfish spawnings have been 'accidental'. In any event, you can treat this as an unconfirmed report or dismiss it altogether - it doesn't worry me either way. I'd still like to see that link though
  11. Interesting - mine didn't show any ill effects at all - can I have a link to wherever that info was?
  12. And seems to make ferns and pungas etc grow like crazy!
  13. Have you considered just using a hair straightening product?
  14. I'm not sure at this stage - I'll need to dig a little deeper. Either way, a ready supply of Copepods has got to be good (assuming tropicals will take temperate pods and I can convince them that they should supply us. Maybe I should tack it onto our fee?).
  15. Maybe MAF can't, but I wouldn't be suprised if there were local Council bylaws that have some teeth. Even so, if you act responsibly and keep it in your tank they'll be no harm done.
  16. Actually, it is the ULTIMATE fishroom too (well, more than one of them). It even has guest accomodation
  17. I don't use one, but apparently they do work well.
  18. Oh yea, I've 'accidentally' bred Claro's and Royal Whips too, but not 'registered' those either - sorry if I burst your bubble.
  19. I bred them about two years ago, well before I started posting on these forums. I think it is worth remembering that a large number of aquarists do not frequent these forums and have little interest in breeding per se - and no, there are no pics - I had the live ones to look at. Good luck with yours.
  20. It is a marine hatchery, and yes, I know who the contacts are, although now isn't really the right time. When it is, I'll buy them a beer and have a chat
  21. Hey - it looks like great fun! http://www.army.mil.nz/culture-and-hist ... aining.htm
  22. Ross Kemp has been doing a series on gangs around the world that touched on this very thing - some US gangs send their recruits into the army to learn weapons and assault tactics. Had some kind of interesting footage of gangbangers using military tactics against the police too. I'm not sure giving people with no self control the ability to kill efficiently is such a flash idea, although if you need someone to stand between you and a piece of shrapnel then I think they'd be ideal. I think tonights edition is on a US gang too - might be worth a look?
