So 2 X T8's for the big tank? And how much are the T5's and how many? Do i just go in and ask for t5/8s?

What lengths do they come in? Can i pick both up at the hardware stores?

Hi I planing on getting 2 new tanks made up. One tank will be around 1m long, planted and have dwarf puffers, the other one will be around 1.1-1.3m long and have minimal plants and fish such as oscars/pelco/silver dollars in it. What lighting/type of lighting will be best for my tanks? What are common size's for tubes and connections for the lights? What specs do the bulbs have/what specs do i need? What about night lighting? moonlighting and blue lights for night or day? What are common tank widths and heights? What thickness glass? 10mm? I will be making the stands myself out of ply and staining them black and then sealing them. I have all my filtration sorted(or over filtration 8) ) Would it be a good idea to run the 2 tanks of a fx5? I am also in the process of building my own filter that does 3800l/h with a alot of media. I could use a pump that does 5800l/h or is this over kill?

Hes eaten 8 neons so far...showing no interest in the convicts tho...he just cant catch the last neons lol

Price is so high as they are made to take large pressure. I picked up a old pool filter, this solves many of my problems and saves me $$$. 3800L/H filter for under $400 8)

Since iv had my oscar it swims on a slight angle, to its right. When he swims hard (after my neons :roll: ) he swims straight. I have had him for about a month, hes about 2+ inches. Water parameters are fine. I know what he acts like when they change for the bad so its not that ....hes just on a angle...he seams happy....is this angle normal?

What the easiest way to make a divider between the different medias?

I want it to be sealed. Actually there are those hard buckets with the lids...good idea....rightyho hes goes another project for me wile im off work....and other ideas for a canister?

Im looking for 1m or under of 150mm-300mm diameter pipe and end caps(one screw and one fixed). I have been quoted $125 for one end cap Its for a home made filter. Cheers

What alternative medias are people using? I meaning like pumice and rocks even cleaning pads. What effects do different rocks have on the water properties?

I think as long as the water quality stays high they are fine...but im no expert

My culture is in seed potting mix, and has some mold on the top. Havent had the culture for long...only time will tell

I should have 1kg of beef heart tomorrow...ill see if he likes it...hes living on granumeat at the moment. Im finding it hard to feed him frozen bloodworms as the block just melts and it goes every where and my oscar and convicts just eats the bits. Might try him on earthworms as well. I have some white worms, but i dont think they are doing very well

What do you feed your knife fish and how?

What media did it come with? What media are you running? what did the media cost? Do you have "messy" fish? Do you vac your tank?

Im going to try taking the wood out next water change and see what happens. And ill prob get a Fluval fx5 soonish for super filtration.

that was one of my next options, will try when i get my new o rings for my filter or when i get my fluval fx5 8)
