My Dad has asked me to find out about a large Native fish tanks set up for the Trout Center in Turangi. Not sure on the exact size yet....but its going to be a display tank and will be larger than your average tank What to make the tank out of? Does Acrylic scratch easily? Who builds them? Lighting requirements? Natural light? Filtration? Needed? Use water flow from streams and rivers into tank? Any other comments would be helpful Ill get pics if they get one made!

I asked a shop that i was in if they had any instock. They said that sold out of them, i proceeded to tell them that they where eels and they said they knew that. I told they that they where possibly illegal, their reply was "Lucky we sold out of them"

The shop had 6 in a tank with some other fish inc 2 tiny fire eels...and the tank was only 700mm or so long. They told me that they had 10 or so at the start and are getting red ones in

Im not sure how many people on here use carbon every day in there filters. I never have used it in my tanks. If used i think you need to remove it after 1-2 months or else what it has absorbed leaches back out I take it you are wanting to replace the filter wool type media? If so what i do is go to the local upholstery place and take in my media and they can get a close match to the grade of material and its about 1/20th of the retail price from the petshops. They may even have clean off cuts that you can have for free!

Did you just drill holes in the top of the bottles? What about getting 2-5 smaller bottles and putting them above your tank in the light hood if there is room as that heat is going to waist. No reason waisting money on heating more water
