Able to do a common sump type of set up just for heating? Insulate the tanks back with polystyrene painted black would help Block up the gaps in the windows now! lol If your lucky in summer you can use the hot air outside as a advantage

What i want a what i get may be two different things. I have metal halides a pmdd, just need diy co2 I have a few snails in there and have a native eel in a smaller tank. Can anyone out there supply me whitebait live?

I just set up my brand new 220L native today. Fully planted. Now all i need is fish. This thread is a big help!

Yeh that was one option. Was looking at native grasses as they survive in harsh conditions that are dry and windy. They would be put at the cold end of the tank

I may get some stainless tubes made up to go around the lights but really am looking for a cheap diy solution. Even heat dist wouldnt matter as its going to be high flow Heat isnt a problem here in summer.

Im looking for some heat proof pipe/tube. Im going to be running metal halide lights in my tanks and want to harness the heat the generate. Im thinking of running some tube around them that water flows from my filter around the light and back into my tank. Im not sure how hot they get but it does melt plastic Any suggestions?

Can you use potting mix with no fert added? My friend is wanting to go planted. What plants would you suggest? Native grasses and a ground cover?

Thats good that they eat bloodworm as my last one wouldn't touch the stuff. Ill be over first thing in the morning to pick them up -
River/lake/sea sand is not what im looking for, as the baby bearded dragon will eat it and cause problems internally

I have 4 dats waiting for me in Tauranga -
My friend is after some natural desert looking sand and needs quite a bit so doesnt want to pay $100 for it from a shop. Any suggestions of where to look?

Metal halide lights I paid $30 for a fitting thats 150w of trademe and about $50 for a bulb thats 6500k
