hey KP heard someone that crossed longfin BN with normal GBA and got all BN not sure weather these are longfin or not funnily enough my goldens have come frm longfin BN to longfin BN so i think these longfin BN have actualll been crossed before like this longfin GBA * BN = longfin BN one of my pair must be carrying the recessive gene back to the longfin GBA \ so i wonder if trying to cross them back brings the dominant shortfin with the dominant BN resulting in normal BN ??

if you want my thoughts on this subject, heres an enlightening post about a similar problem ,How many forum members does it take to change a lightbulb? 1 to change the light bulb and 1 to post that the light bulb has been changed 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs 27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs 53 to flame the spell checkers 41 to correct spelling/grammar flames 6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive 2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp" 15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct 156 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in violation of their "acceptable use policy" 109 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum 203 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum, and lightbulb forum about changing light bulbs be stopped 111 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum 306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty 27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs 14 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's 3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group 33 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too" 12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy 19 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three" 4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ 44 to ask what is a "FAQ" 4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" 143 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs" 1 new forum member to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again

hey guys ,and the debate rages , i agree on pure starins and where we can ,need to stay true to the cause BUT and a big BUt ,if it means its the only way we can breed them in the aquarium and they become a rare quatity then it is somewhat acceptable to save them by this means . On that note dont know if you all realised but the L018 and L081 come form exactly the same regions of water maybe the L081 is a just a variation of the L18. if you look at adult L18s the spots are similar to a L081 and so the debate rages i cant say for certain that they are two different species or not and nor can planetcatfish as photos are reliant on the ppl that take em , maybe the photo of the adult L18 is in fact a L081 . anyway on the positive i would assertain by head shape the first two pipcs of an L018 is definetly male and the last two pics look VERY good of being female i think the guy that told you they had bred before had one too many wiskeys before typing but hey for you kiwi i hope i am wrong then YOU would be a legend but the pesimist in me agrees with what ilah said before . HTH mr pleco and good luck ...

man didnt know i was even getting picked up just shows you how good looking i must be i get picked up by complete strangers  as for yr actual pleco looks like he has injured himself and that is an infection /growth on the side of his mouth probably wont kill him but it wont be a goo dthing either see if you can aquire some of those indian almond leaves i saw on here just before as they have antiseptic qualities ideal for this kind of thing it will turn yr water brown but should help heal him aswell

GBAs get red behind the head in males when they come into spawning unknown why just what they do also happens with starlights as for the nose it could be a bit of rubbing as adults dont really get this and maybe the young just rubbing their nose end as they feed do keep an eye on it why i ask for temp, is heat will bring blood vessels to the surface and being so small may have been a factor other reasons may be parasitic but cant see any other signs to reflect that watch for swollen tummies or pale colouring as this then is parastitic ..watch nitrate levels in the tank and make sure airation is good (o2 levels ) dosent look anything to worry about at this stage and cant say i have seen it before best to keep an eye on it to make sure it dosent develop any further and by the sounds of it it comes and goes with location /mood /and stress . if in doubt ...do a water change . 8)
