  1. HOLY!!! well trained fish they stayed in frame the entire time. cool video too.
  2. thanks, I'll have look at that site tomorrow.
  3. I have JBL AquaBasis plus as substrate...or do you mean liquid ferts, like flourish excel?
  4. I recently set up my 3foot tank.I've got 4 of my 6 T5 lights going from 7am to 10pm, and at the moment there are very few plants in the tank. The tank does get a bit of indirect sunlight during the morning.... Anyway the tank is starting to get green algae everywhere. once the tank is heavily planted and the CO2 system is going, will this fix the problem, or do I need sort out my sunlight issue? I have reduced my lighting to only 2 t5's at the moment to try and combat the problem.
  5. but isnt the gas just going to build up between the regulator, needle value and the solenoid and just blow the hose off? surely a few bubbles a min over the 10hours the solenoid is off will build a fair bit of pressure...and even if the hose doesnt blow off, all the built up gas will just be dumped into the tank in one massive go once the solenoid is open again? I thought the point was to stop the gas leaving the bottle?
  6. No doubt its against the rules to use Google and drag up these old threads.. but... will the above Solenoid valve set up work? I thought that if you shut it off there the hose would just blow off?
  7. MDF and water isn't the best combination.
  8. I dont have a sodastream machine thingy, lol just looking at the bottle. Paint ball bottles don't fit my regulator.
  9. Are Sodastream bottles suitable for delivering co2 into my tank.... Assuming my regulator fits it, are there any other reasons why it maybe a bad idea.
  10. thats the one on TM  Thanks though, The guy at BOC told me that the replacement price on their biggest CO2 bottle is $200 so buying one that is a 1/10 of the size for the same price seems expensive.
  11. So where can I get one of these? I know I can rent one from BOC for around $13 a month, and around $30 to refill (6KG) And I have seen one on TM for $200 (3KG) but thats a bit steep. And I'm going to see if a paint ball bottle will work. but other than those, anywhere else that sells them? Or does anyone have one they are selling or willing to sell Thanks Andrew

  14. I got my filter today, so I have water in the tank, making sure it does leak etc etc. haha couldn't wait. It will be empty again once I get the tap fitting for one of those pumps that empties and fills the tank Explain please
  15. they just give the other fish more confidence i guess.
  16. according to my eyecrometer mine is only 6mm. I think I will leave this project till I can get some more tools from work
  17. I had a similar problem, all my fish stayed hidden apart from my fighter. on advice from my LFS I added some schooling fish (platies sp*) And now they are all out and about again.
  18. isn't that what makes the tank go green? hence why they shouldn't be in direct sunlight.?
  19. No my little tank just does it. I was thinking of maybe testing the tint on my not yet planted tank. At first i was thinking of putting reflective material on the bottom of my hood i'm making to minimize the light lost...Then I thought of the mirror to minimize the light lost through the glass. And that it maybe help reduce UV from the natural sunlight.
  20. I'm sure window tint spends a lot of time being wet in some parts of the world, wellington for example (just joking) i think tint has the same effect no matter what side of the glass it is on, it will always mirror the lightest/brightest side. so i guess you could apply it to the outside At night, or when the room is really dark, my tank goes mirrored, looking from the inside out. my fighter didn't like it to much, but i'm sure schooling fish would have a field day, so to speak.
