  1. Use the stuff that they use as shade cloth.... (sell) And edit again - its not on mitre10's website, they only sell the shade sail kits, which is probably far too big. I'd say your best bet would be The Warehouse (ones with the garden centre attached), or Hammer Hardware
  2. The ventui is glued in, the crack goes from the bottom of that, right through along to the base. hence why fixing it ain't an option lol
  3. Well, the base has a crack in it, which means that it is loosing pressure, and not skimming properly - Hence, rubbish . I figure it should be fine to drill the venturi out & block it up with silicone. Anything i should know when trying this? How much flow should I be trying to shove through it?
  4. Yup, it WILL eat babies. However, try and get the BGK handfeeding, it will make things easier for both it and you BGKs are supposedly eye-eaters on larger fish, if they don't get enough protein, so yeah.
  5. Federation of New Zealand Aquarium Societies Taken from the very homepage of the FNZAS
  6. Don't get damsels. This is why you READ UP FIRST!. They are highly aggressive and territorial!. (However, they are fine in larger tanks, where fish can hide form them, also, add them last!)
  7. prfft, you saw what the tank was sitting on in my room?
  8. So is red bull. I daresay that eating bags of sugar would probably be better for your teeth. Incidently, how long did it take for the alge to die off Conch, or did you prune it with a weed trimmer, or similar?

    HaNs' build

You'll be wanting about 20kg of coral rock - approx 12+ KG Definately want a sump. 100L fishbin from the warehouse would do quite well, just brace it a bit first, they are about $25 from memory, Return pump, check your PMs Filter is part of the sump, use filter wool, and change it weekly. Power heads - expensive lol AND YES IT ADDS UP. My 3 foot tank, which is around 200L has cost me approx 1700, and I still don't have the skimmer running......... (DOH!)
  10. That log DOES still have a clown loach in it. Look harder
  11. Time for an UPDATE! I have 3 Blue Green Reef Chromis (Crash test dummies, i'm not brave enough to throw my firefish in there quite yet... My bubble coral appears to have grown, and i'm seriously thinking about dividing it in 1/2. I've got some green zoos, a range of shrrooms, and the 2nd brain / meat coral (not sure what it is) has started to inflate and is now looking purday. I also have a little green Sea Urchin, and three Apstasia anenomies. My finger leather is still sulking. My SG is bouncing around like a bloody beachball, i checked it at midday, and was at 1.025, and its now at 1.03 (grrrrr..) I also think i'm getting Red Slime Alge, so i'll get some phosphate remover (I know where its coming from - Tap water - but i'll invest in a DI filter eventually...) And now for the PICURES! Torch Hermit Still Sulking. Little bugger... Chromis. Dead brain/meat coral (Not sure how to tell the difference), urchin, shrooms, and feather duster Frogspawn Brain / meat and organ pipe Spot the Apstasia, and win a prize. I'll keep you updated on what the prize is.. Baby zebra brittlestar? Extended! FTS - I think I need some more rock.... Sump layout. Same as above, but with the flash...
  12. i think i'll just be going for a basic household filter + DI because the flatmates would go ape if I was using RODI.
  13. ouch. And remember, getting out of the doggybox. Where y = amount of brownie points needed, and x = number of favours needed to make 1 brownie poiint, your pretty much screwed
  14. actually i've got it pretty silent now, it was the skimmer. I need to do something with that
