We used to have some at our beach house, in a tank out the back.
Along with a couple of baby eels, few shrimp, cockabully etc. Dammed freshwater crays would escape within 5 hours.
Escape through anything.
We had about a 10cm lip on the tank (40cm high), and an airline going above the tank vertically, suspended on cotton. Little buggers could scale that, and vanish. We found one in the act of escaping once, was the last time we tried them
