  1. sounds like you are making reasonable progress and pics wont be to far away
  2. the first two are clown plecos, possibly a male and female - you can see the odontodes (spikes) on the tail of the second fish so that's a male. Not sure about the third one. Its not L066. Maybe some sort of Peckoltia??? You could try posting the pic on pleco planet or Planet catfish.
  3. welcome back. You could always go for African cichlids and go for nice rock work instead
  4. another update. the oldest batch are now 69 days old and about 25mm long, They are certainly slower growing compared to their L270 relies and another nice surprise in the post. A breeding certificate from the FNZAS breeding scheme.
  5. Lovely fish. That Oscar looks quite interested in it.
  6. What a difference 40 days makes. Here is the first batch at 53 days old with the second batch at 11 days old
  7. I have a few second hand tanks with fish in and my 6 foot tank is probably 20 years old. A level surface and some poly seems to work well.
  8. Sorry to hear about the tank but it sounds like you have a suitable replacement. Mine are all under 20 mm of polystyrene. I think that certainly helps as I haven't had one pop in a very long time.
  9. Ebay. Look for sunkillie. They are probably to big for L129 but hey they still breed in them. L140 and L270 like them as well
  10. I have just removed the next batch. 14 this time. And a pic of the first batch at 7 weeks. They are getting quite stocky and obviously like NovoTab
  11. well here they are at weeks 5 and 6. They are now only 2 cm long which is pretty slow growing but they don't get that big. The male ate his last batch of eggs as I spent to much time looking at them with a torch He was on another batch within the week so I must have another breeding female which is a nice bonus.
  12. terrible photo and a different cave but he is on his next batch of eggs
  13. Well they are now a month old and growing fast - the biggest ones have put on 3 mm over the last week. The male is now trying to attract attention in a cave that is way to big for him. For some reason he doesn't seem to like the smaller caves.
  14. great to hear you have 4 still alive and a second batch. Nicely done
  15. I agree Mark an impressive achievement to date. I didn't realise you could raise peppermint shrimps in the first place, let alone that someone wrote a book on it. Well done and I am sure you will be successful in the future.
  16. well 3 weeks old now. They haven't grown but have got used to real food (JBL NovoTab) and are starting to fill out nicely.
